“We are all afraid”…
I saw this this morning…
“We are all afraid,” Murkowski said, taking a long pause. “It’s quite a statement. But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been here before. And I’ll tell ya, I’m oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that’s not… pic.twitter.com/sF7leGcrzF

Show more =’s But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been here before. And I’ll tell ya, I’m oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that’s not right.”
Anchorage Daily News (04/14/2025): “We are all afraid,” Murkowski said, taking a long pause. “It’s quite a statement. But we are in a time and a place where I certainly have not been here before. And I’ll tell ya, I’m oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice, because retaliation is real. And that’s not right.”
ADN shared a 4 minute YouTube to summarize her 45-minute talk.
They quote her as saying (not shared in the YouTube snip):
“It is head spinning,” Murkowski said. “It seems that just when you’ve made a little bit of progress on one issue that had caused so much anxiety, there’s another one.”
Murkowski said that amid recent rumors that AmeriCorps would be terminated, she’d texted Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles to try to register her concerns, but wasn’t clear how effective that kind of access to the White House might ultimately prove.
“I share this with you not to say that ‘we don’t know anything,’ but I’m saying that things are happening so fast through this Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE … none of us understand the half of it,” Murkowski said. “It’s literally piecing it together.”
Anchorage Daily News (04/14/2025).
Apparently, her reaching out to Susie Wiles had zero impact.
Several hundreds of people appear to have been placed on leave, including those in DC and across the country. Only a handful of senior officials and program heads remain active at the agency, agency staff say.

ADN goes on to say:
Since the first Trump administration, Murkowski has remained one of the few Republicans willing to criticize President Donald Trump and break with the administration on certain issues, even while welcoming measures and appointments she agrees with. She said that the administration’s actions refusing to disburse congressionally authorized monies approved under legislation was “against the law,” and that Congress had allowed the executive branch to claim too much power that the U.S. Constitution assignsto the legislative branch.
“It’s called the checks and balances. And right, now we are not balancing as the Congress,” Murkowski said.
She expressed alarm at how the judiciary was increasingly being treated as a partisan entity, saying it was putting America in “a very dangerous place, because you stop believing in the rule of law.” And she called on Alaskans to “be affirmative” in protesting on behalf of programs they want to remain in place so that elected leaders are kept aware of where support and frustration exist among constituents.
“I think it’s important the concerns continue to be raised rather than letting the fatigue of the chaos grind you down,” Murkowski said.
Anchorage Daily News (04/14/2025).
I share this, because it is true, we are all afraid; the problem I have with Republican Senators, is they are inconsistent with their public statements, private ones, and how they vote.
For example:
Senator Murkowski voted against Pete “I have gross tattoos, have abused women, but I’m Defense Secretary now” Hegshit, but voted in favor of Robert “I’m an offensive piece of shit” Kennedy”…
I understand they are not always going to vote “my way”, as they are humans and individuals, but if you can see, Hegshit is unqualified for his role, how do you not see that RFK is also not qualified?
In case you were wondering what new offensive things RFK said:
RFK JR: And these are kids who will never pay taxes, they'll never hold a job, they'll never play baseball, they'll never write a poem. They'll never go out on a date. Many of them will never use a toilet unassisted pic.twitter.com/8T3hcYYn9O

“Things” is not a typo, that whole clip he says things that are offensive.
Economy…
Yesterday, Fed Chairman Powell, told the truth; tariffs of this magnitude are bad for the economy.
Powell: The data we have so far suggest growth has slowed in the first quarter of this year from last year's solid pace… In addition strong imports during the first quarter reflecting attempts by businesses to get ahead of potential tariffs are expected to weigh on GDP growth pic.twitter.com/iZKiA5E4Jz

Powell: The level of tariff increases announced so far is significantly larger than anticipated, and the same is likely to be true of the economic effects which will include higher inflation and slower growth. pic.twitter.com/YQErrVQGni

This last clip, he says we are “well positioned” to wait for “clarity” aka economic fallout from bad economic decisions before they have to make cuts and talk about QE…

All of those clips led to President Bad Decisions Make People Poorer posting to “Lies” social that Powell needs terminated.

The ECB did cut interest rates.
The European Central Bank cut interest rates for the seventh time to counter worries about economic growth fueled by President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. https://t.co/VbCVwBRdHE

The bank’s rate-setting council decided at a meeting in Frankfurt to lower its benchmark rate by a quarter percentage point to 2.25%. The bank has been steadily cutting rates after raising them sharply to combat an outbreak of inflation from 2022 to 2023.
Now that inflation has fallen, growth worries have taken center stage. The economy in the 20 countries that use the euro grew a modest 0.2% in the last three months of 2024. Inflation was 2.2% in March, close to the bank’s target of 2%.

Deportation News…
We have covered the Garcia case pretty closely here at the Blender; it’s important. Not because somehow we all of sudden heart gang members, but because we understand that if we don’t stand up now, when one person’s rights are being trampled, our rights are next.
I want to remind you now, that there are several other unnamed immigrants illegal or otherwise that are also trapped in El Salvador prison; some might even belong there, but fact is, we don’t know, cause due process wasn’t followed when they were put on the planes; at least we suspect that’s the case for many of those that were flown out.
Anyway, here’s the new news mixed with old news…
Andry, was put on a plane, because he had crown tattoos on his wrist that said “mom” and “dad”.
This case isn't being talked about enough. https://t.co/2zHlyOJkq7

I read this gifted article yesterday and it’s part of the reason, I used the “all about his base” image on today’s article…
Wrote about the administration’s dishonest rhetoric about immigration and how its obvious, grotesque dishonesty about Kilmer Abrego Garcia is exposing a much deeper rot.

As we’ve talked about many times…
This gets to a central problem for the president. The Trump administration wants to quickly deport 1 million immigrants, itself a much more modest goal than the tens of millions Trump discussed on the campaign trail. But even that is hard, since, as one expert explained to The Post, “the deportation process is time-consuming.”
So, instead of (perhaps unflattering) verifiable data, we often just get anecdata, numbers from Trump and other officials aimed at reinforcing the idea that immigrants are being expelled from the United States at a staggering clip. Sometimes, those numbers are presented with dubious charts. Sometimes, they’re just thrown into conversations. Always, they are backstopped with videos, photos and other images showing how the administration is cracking down. The presentation from the White House is one of unrelenting strength — a presentation that appears to be a Potemkin one.

Because part not all of what is happening right now is to please President Ego’s own ego and MAGA’s hard-on for causing harm to people they view as less than.
The not all =’s Nazi Miller really is a Nazi.
The below shows that the system can work, sort of, if people are willing to be “unafraid”…
