July 7, 2025

His Excellency
Ishiba Shigeru
Prime Minister of Japan
Tokyo

Dear Mr. Prime Minister:

It is a Great Honor for me to send you this letter in that it demonstrates the strength and commitment of our Trading Relationship, and the fact that the United States of America has agreed to continue working with Japan, despite having a significant Trade Deficit with your great Country. Nevertheless, we have decided to move forward with you, but only with more balanced, and fair, TRADE. Therefore, we invite you to participate in the extraordinary Economy of the United States, the Number One Market in the World, by fair. We have had years to discuss our Trading Relationship with Japan, and have concluded that we must move away from these longterm, and very persistent, Trade Deficits engendered by Japan’s Tariff, and Non Tariff, Policies and Trade Barriers. Our relationship has been, unfortunately, far from Reciprocal. Starting on August 1, 2025, we will charge Japan a Tariff of only 25% on any and all Japanese products sent into the United States, separate from all Sectoral Tariffs. Goods manufactured to avoid a higher Tariff will be subject to that higher Tariff. Please understand that the 25% number is far less than what is needed to eliminate the Trade Deficit disparity we have with your Country. As you are aware, we permit no Tariff in Japan, or companies within your Country, decide to build or manufacture product within the United States and, in fact, we will do everything possible to get approvals quickly, professionally, and routinely — In other words, in a market of needs.

If for any reason you decide to raise your Tariffs, then, whatever the number you choose to raise them by, we will add and do the 25% that we charge. Please understand that these Tariffs are necessary to correct the many years of Japan’s Tariff, and Non Tariff, Policies and Trade Barriers, causing the unsustainable Trade Deficits against the United States. This Deficit is a major threat to our Economy and, indeed, our National Security!

National security doesn’t mean what he thinks it means.

Page 2:

We look forward to working with you as your Trading Partner for many years to come. If you wish to open your heretofore closed Trading Markets to the United States, and eliminate your Tariff, and Non Tariff, Policies and Trade Barriers, we will, perhaps, consider an adjustment to this letter. These Tariffs may be modified, upward or downward, depending on our relationship with your Country. You will never be disappointed with The United States of America.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Thank you for your attention to this matter is cringe.

He was asked yesterday if the August 1st deadline was actually firm, since the original date had already slipped. His answer? It’s firm—except when it’s not, because negotiations are always on the table.

This morning via “Lies Social” he said it’s firm.

Based on the letters we have so far this is the list I came up with…

CountryTariff Percent
Japan25
Korea25
Malaysia25
Kazakhstan25
South Africa30
Lao40
Myanmar40
Tunisia25
Indoneisa32
Bangladesh35
Serbia35
cambodia36
thailand36
Bosnia and Hezegovina30

The order of countries are based on the order in which he posted the dumbest letters ever.

On Monday he signed an Executive Order extending the deadline.

The market is reacting with a more muted reaction than it did back in April.

Speaking about the economy…

Brooke Rollins, the cosplay Ag Secretary, wants everyone to relax—no, the farm workers aren’t getting amnesty. Mass kidnappings will proceed as planned. And not to worry: between magical automation and relocating 34 million able-bodied Medicaid recipients to the fields, the supply chain will be just fine. What could possibly go wrong?

The Cabinet Meeting is underway.

He says his relationship with Texas is amazing, he says they saved a lot of lives, so congrats on a great job, and he’ll be visiting the area on Friday.

He says in this clip that we have “many people” walking our streets, that were released from foreign countries insane asylums.

He spends time talking about ordering the bombing of Iran and introduces the word “skedaddle”.

Before the meeting is over he’ll have invited that word.

In this clip he demands someone from CNN be fired for reporting on the first draft of the assessment on the damage done to Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

He doubles down.

And on that note, it’s a wrap.

This is an open thread

PS.

Dear Tony,

You’ll be pleased to know that LA congestion doesn’t exist anymore, cause mass deportation…

I just can’t…

Updated.

I really can’t even.

He’s mad about the question on Epstein being asked, when it’s news, because his DOJ, said there was no there there.

Show more =’s And there was a minute that was off the counter, and what we learned from the Bureau of Prisons is every night they redo that video, so every night the video is reset and every night should have the same minute missing.”

Bondi sounded real shaky in the clip.
