Oliver is welcomed as a member of the Hooterville Chamber of Commerce and learns that the members have been trying in vain to secure a large event for the town to host to create an economic boom. So far, the Olympics and World’s Fair have politely declined. An idea is raised that the they try to attract a Hollywood film studio to shoot a movie in town. As it happens, the Chamber’s letter leaves for Hollywood just as the Department of Agriculture in Washington D.C. travels to Hooterville to shoot an educational film. It seems the Department’s “Film Division” has learned of Oliver from his frequent letters of complaint and has decided to produce a documentary film in Hooterville, capturing the hardships that city dwellers encounter when turning to farm-ownership on impulse. Confusion ensues when the townsfolk mistake the head of the Film Division for a famous actor, and all of Hooterville is abuzz as they prepare for their close-up, Mr. DeMille! Eva Gabor also stars.
