If the ’80s had an official royal court, it was Corey Haim and Corey Feldman — and License to Drive was one of their crown jewels. I was all in on this movie, and the soundtrack delivered the perfect late-’80s vibe.
But here’s the thing: some of the best songs never even made the official soundtrack release. Movies like this weren’t just about what you could buy on cassette — they were about the songs that instantly stamped a scene in your memory. And then, out of nowhere, you get Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life.” I’m pretty sure only about three of us watching that movie had any clue who Frank was at the time — but everyone else learned fast.
It’s not the kind of soundtrack that shows up on “all-time” lists, but that’s exactly why it deserves a spot here — it’s pure fun, pure nostalgia, and pure Coreys.
I’ll be linking to each soundtrack’s Wikipedia page if you want to dig deeper, rediscover the track listings, or argue with your own memory of what played during that prom scene.
And don’t worry — this won’t be the last time we visit movie soundtracks. 🎶
