TNB Night Owl: My Top 31 Soundtrack Movie Countdown!

#6 – Dazed and Confused (1993):

When I saw Dazed and Confused in the theater, the movie felt like a time machine—straight back into the 70s with its wall-to-wall soundtrack of Aerosmith, Foghat, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. What struck me, though, wasn’t just remembering times I’d heard those songs growing up, but how much it reminded me of my brothers. These were the songs blasting from their rooms, or on the car radio when I tagged along. This soundtrack wasn’t just about my memories—it was about theirs too, woven into the backdrop of my childhood. They eventually released it in two volumes, but I only ever owned Volume 1—and that one was plenty to take me back. And of course, Foghat’s Slow Ride was the perfect capstone—it locks the whole film in place, the kind of track that makes you roll down the windows and just let the moment last a little longer.

I’ll be linking to each soundtrack’s Wikipedia page if you want to dig deeper, rediscover the track listings, or argue with your own memory of what played during that prom scene.

And don’t worry — this won’t be the last time we visit movie soundtracks. 🎶
