Taco Tuesday:

Iran responded by seizing two oil tankers.
🚨BREAKING

Iranian Navy:
Two violating vessels, “MSC-FRANCESCA” (linked to Israel) and “EPAMINODES,” which operated without required authorization and manipulated navigation systems, endangering maritime safety, were seized by the IRGC Navy and escorted to the Iranian coast.
Axios responded by saying that Puddle believes the war is over.

The rest of the tweet says: “It certainly looks like Trump doesn’t want to use military force anymore and has made a decision to end the war,” one U.S. source close to Trump said.”
President Trump is giving Iran’s warring factions a short window to unify behind a coherent counter-offer — or the ceasefire he extended Tuesday ends, three U.S. officials tell Axios.
AXIOS. 04/22/2026.
- “Trump is willing to give another three to five days of ceasefire to allow the Iranians to get their shit together,” one U.S. source briefed on the matter said. “It is not going to be open-ended.”
Behind the scenes: U.S. officials first began to see the divisions after the first round of Islamabad talks, when it became clear IRGC commander Gen. Ahmad Vahidi and his deputies had rejected much of what Iran’s own negotiators had discussed.
AXIOS. 04/22/2026.
- The split broke into the open last Friday. When Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC refused to implement it — and began publicly attacking him.
- In the days that followed, Iran gave no substantive response to the latest U.S. proposal and refused to commit to a second round of talks in Pakistan.
Between the lines: Several U.S. officials and Trump associates drew the same conclusion: the president thinks the U.S. has achieved everything it can militarily and wants out of the increasingly unpopular war. He won’t resume it until he has exhausted every other option.
AXIOS. 04/22/2026.
- “It certainly looks like Trump doesn’t want to use military force anymore and has made a decision to end the war,” one U.S. source close to Trump said.
Yes, but: If the Pakistani mediators can’t secure Iranian participation within Trump’s window, the military option is back on the table.

The Iranians take Trump for a sucker. How many times do they expect him to play this game before they reopen the Strait of Hormuz? writes @ElliotKaufman6https://t.co/TMCQH7feV1

Sucker only appears in the headline of the Op-Ed posted by the Wall Street Journal.
On April 7, Mr. Trump announced a two-week cease-fire—“subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz.” This implied that Iran hadn’t quite agreed to it yet, and two sources familiar with negotiations told me gaps remained. But Iran’s foreign minister eased concerns: “For a period of two weeks,” he wrote that evening, “safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be possible” within certain limits.
By the next morning, Mr. Trump was ebullient. “A big day for World Peace! Iran wants it to happen, they’ve had enough!” he wrote. “We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds.” When the Journal’s editorial board warned against declaring “premature victory,” the president was dismissive. “Actually, it is a Victory, and there’s nothing ‘premature’ about it!” he wrote on April 9. “Very quickly, you’ll see Oil start flowing,” he added. “The Wall Street Journal will, as usual, live to eat their words.”
But the oil didn’t flow. Tanker traffic declined even further. “That is not the agreement we have!” Mr. Trump would complain. This was Iran’s first swindle.

Government bailouts are cool…when Republicans do it!
SCOOP: The Trump administration and Spirit Airlines are nearing a deal where the U.S. government would put up to $500 million into Spirit Airlines stock warrants to try to save the company, leading to a potential significant stake in the company.

The Trump administration is nearing a rescue deal for Spirit Airlines, people familiar with the matter said.
Under the agreement being discussed, the U.S. government would loan the embattled discount carrier as much as $500 million, receiving in return warrants to take a potential significant stake in Spirit, the people said.
The Transportation Department and Commerce Department are involved in the discussions, which aren’t yet final, and the terms of any agreement could still change.
President Trump met Tuesday night with Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to hash out a deal to keep Spirit Airlines alive, according to people with knowledge of the talks.
“The Trump administration continues to monitor the situation and overall health of the U.S. aviation industry that millions of Americans rely on every day for essential travel and their livelihoods,” White House spokesman Kush Desai said Wednesday. The White House didn’t immediately respond to further requests for comment.
While the government has helped the airline industry in times of crisis, like the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and the Covid-19 pandemic, rescuing Spirit would be a rare intervention to prop up a single carrier.
WSJ. 04/22/2026.
The most corrupt man in the world told CNBC’s Becky Quick he wants to help Spirit Airlines.
Becky Quick: There’s a story earlier this week about United potentially wanting to buy American. Senators from both sides of the aisle have warned that that is a step too far. You should not be putting these two large airlines together. Have you thought about that proposition? Would you be in favor?
Puddle: I heard about it over the last couple of days ago, and I know them both very well. I don’t like it. No, I don’t mind mergers. I think I’d love somebody to buy Spirit, as an example. You know, Spirit’s in trouble, and I’d love somebody to buy Spirit. It’s 14,000 jobs. And maybe the federal government should help that one out. You know, I told my people. But with American, it’s doing fine. And United is doing very well. I know the United people, they’re doing very well. I don’t like having them merge.
Republicans Big Mad!
Breaking News: Virginia voters approved a congressional map that could let Democrats flip up to four House seats, a boost to the party’s effort to win control of the chamber this fall. https://t.co/lQrOx72Z5A
— The New York Times (@nytimes) April 22, 2026
Virginia voters approved a referendum on Tuesday to redraw the state’s congressional map, according to The Associated Press, allowing Democrats to flip as many as four Republican-held seats in the U.S. House. The vote provides a significant boost to the party’s effort to win control of the chamber this fall.
The statewide referendum will enact a map that is as extreme a political gerrymander as exists in the United States. The new lines, drawn by Democratic state legislators and approved by Gov. Abigail Spanberger, are intended to deliver 10 of Virginia’s 11 House seats to Democrats, up from the six they now control.

Grifter and nepo baby Donald Trump Jr. announced that top cult member Devin Nunes is out as CEO of Trump Media.
“President Trump’s social media company, which has consistently lost money and struggled with a flagging share price, announced Tuesday that it was replacing Devin Nunes as its chief executive officer.” https://t.co/Y0dYycSM4d

President Trump’s social media company, which has consistently lost money and struggled with a flagging share price, announced Tuesday that it was replacing Devin Nunes as its chief executive officer.
The announcement offered no reason for the sudden departure of Mr. Nunes, a former Republican congressman from California. Mr. Trump had tapped him to run the company, Trump Media & Technology, in late 2021.
The announcement was made in a news release by the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., who is a company board member and oversees a trust that controls his father’s 115-million-share stake in Trump Media. President Trump is not an officer or director of the company.
