FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—President Donald Trump is holding an event Monday in the Rose Garden to celebrate the administration’s efforts on school choice, the Daily Signal can first report.
“President Trump and Secretary [Linda] McMahon will host students and parents in the Rose Garden today to celebrate the start of the new school year,” White House spokeswoman Liz Huston said.
“The event will highlight the administration’s wins for American students, including the largest national expansion of education freedom in history,” Huston said.
Trump will highlight the expansion of school choice in the “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act,” which the president signed on July 4, 2025. The law established a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 in contributions to nonprofits that award scholarships for education-related services.

On the Mike Mazzei tele-rally ahead of tomorrow’s runoff election in Oklahoma…

President Trump faces one of the last major primary tests of his endorsement power on Tuesday in Oklahoma, where his pick for governor is battling in a tough runoff.
His pick, Republican Mike Mazzei, finished less than a percentage point behind rival Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond (R) in the initial June GOP primary, as a divided field kept either from winning outright.

Trump’s decision to back Mazzei came as a surprise to some, after signs that Drummond and other Republicans were poised to be front-runners for the seat being vacated by term-limited Gov. Kevin Stitt (R), teeing up the first wide-open Republican primary since 2018.
“It’s really this test of: Can a Trump endorsement get a dud over the finish line?” [Seth] McKee said.
“I think we were all a little bit shocked when we saw that Trump endorsed Mazzei on this one. That moved him clearly into front-runner status, and it happened at a time when the other campaigns were attacking each other, and not really Mazzei,” said Tyler Powell, an Oklahoma-based political adviser who is not involved in the gubernatorial race. “So Mazzei kind of came in slightly unscathed into the race with the momentum.”

Trump’s endorsement had already drawn scrutiny after revelations that Mazzei’s campaign paid nearly $70,000 to Trump confidante Roger Stone for consulting services, prompting critics to question whether the money factored into Trump’s decision.
Mazzei has pushed back against those claims, and his campaign has stressed that it was his staunch alignment with Trump that got him the nod.

The Hill notes that Puddle’s first endorsement ahead of the June primary wasn’t enough to prevent the runoff.
He offered another endorsement in late June.
Puddle is also holding a tele-rally for his “yes, sir,” Senator Darline Graham.
As I mentioned Friday, Darline Graham blew a question during the debate about foreign policy. When Puddle was asked about her epic fail, he said no worries, she’s “going to do what the” Puddle “wants.”

I’d seen the graphic floating around social media. I can’t find the tweet where I originally saw it, but I did take a screen grab of the source.

The three issues as explained by PM Carney:
First, with respect to the auto industry, both in terms of the level of the tariffs, the treatment of Canadian content. So, Canadian parts, Canadian steel, Canadian content in vehicles, the scope of the tariffs. Americans wanted to limit it to autos only, not include medium and heavy autos and light trucks, to be more specific, not include medium and heavy duty trucks, which is a big change, obviously.
And with respect to Ford’s new plant, for example, in Oakville, which is F350s, 450s, 550s, they would have been excluded. GM Silverado, same thing would have been excluded from that. No rationale just for exclusion.
So effectively moving into a series of terms that would have would made the production more uneconomic over time. Okay. So that’s, that’s, that’s a change, that restriction, that clarification, that precision was, was a change.
The US introduced at the last hours, in the last hours, efforts to restrict our ability to have other trade deals. You heard me say a moment ago what we’ve accomplished in the last year, 20 new deals, economic and security partnership.

The prospect of doubling our market access because we believe in free trade. We’re the partner of choice in many respects for countries around the world, and the Americans wanted to restrict that. They had language that they wanted to restrict.
Unacceptable. And I’ll give you a third.
Continual efforts, always resisted, as I said in my remarks, and always will be resisted, efforts to restrict our protections of our language, our culture, and in effect our sovereignty.
So elements coming in, ramping up, any of them individually, but collectively put us in a position where what had been on a trajectory absent those elements for a fair deal, a good deal for Canadians, not perfect, but a good deal.
A deal we would not accept.
