Inflation Tweet
From Wednesday…
Inflation is now down 65% from its peak and gas prices are down $1.65 from the peak after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
— President Biden (@POTUS) November 14, 2023
I’m fighting to continue lowering costs for families – from junk fees to cutting prescription drug, health care, and energy costs.
I’m not going to let up.
BLS.gov said on Tuesday:
The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) was unchanged in October on a seasonally adjusted basis, after increasing 0.4 percent in September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 3.2 percent before seasonal adjustment.
The index for shelter continued to rise in October, offsetting a decline in the gasoline index and resulting in the seasonally adjusted index being unchanged over the month. The energy index fell 2.5 percent over the month as a 5.0-percent decline in the gasoline index more than offset increases in other energy component indexes. The food index increased 0.3 percent in October, after rising 0.2 percent in September. The index for food at home increased 0.3 percent over the month while the index for food away from home rose 0.4 percent.
The index for all items less food and energy rose 0.2 percent in October, after rising 0.3 percent in September. Indexes which increased in October include rent, owners’ equivalent rent, motor vehicle insurance, medical care, recreation, and personal care. The indexes for lodging away from home, used cars and trucks, communication, and airline fares were among those that decreased over the month. The all items index rose 3.2 percent for the 12 months ending October, a smaller increase than the 3.7-percent increase for the 12 months ending September.
The all items less food and energy index rose 4.0 percent over the last 12 months, its smallest 12-month change since the period ending in September 2021. The energy index decreased 4.5 percent for the 12 months ending October, and the food index increased 3.3 percent over the last year.

President Biden’s full statement:
Today we saw more progress bringing down inflation while maintaining one of the strongest job markets in history. At 3.2%, annual inflation is now down by 65% from the peak. Gas prices are below $3.40 per gallon, reflecting an average decline of $1.65 from the peak after Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Inflation has come down while the unemployment rate has been below 4% for 21 months in a row—the longest stretch in more than 50 years—while wages, wealth, and the share of working-age Americans with jobs are all higher now than before the pandemic. I’m working to get results for the American people and it’s happening—and I’m not going to let up for one second. I’m fighting every single day to continue lowering costs for hardworking families so they have more breathing room—from eliminating costly junk fees on air fares and event tickets, to cutting prescription drug costs and health care premiums, to reducing energy costs. Instead of joining me, Congressional Republicans are fighting to slash taxes for the wealthy and big corporations, while standing with Big Pharma and other special interests to try to block us from bringing down everyday costs for American families. I won’t let them.

Reducing flood risks to communities. Improving drought resilience.
White House.gov. 11/14/2023.
Supporting conservation for our national parks. I’ve already been able to conserve 21 million acres of our most precious and sacred lands and waters just — just thus far — just in the first two and a half years.
And advancing environmental justice for disadvantaged communities, because they’re the ones always left behind.
My Administration has released the Fifth National Climate Assessment in our history.
— President Biden (@POTUS) November 14, 2023
It makes clear that climate change is impacting all regions of our nation – but that communities are taking more action than ever to reduce climate risks.
We have to keep that action going. pic.twitter.com/s14GbkWe1T
Today — today, I’m proud to announce that my administration just released the Fifth Climate Assessment in our nation’s history.
[snip]
This assessment shows us in clear scientific terms that climate change is impacting all regions, all sectors of the United States — not just some, all.
White House.gov. 11/14/2023.
It shows that communities across America are taking more action than ever to reduce climate risks and warns that more action is still badly needed.
We can’t be complacent. Let me say that again: We can’t be complacent. We have to keep going.

Vegas Golden Knights Tweet
From Tuesday…
The Golden Knights are proof that in Vegas, you can beat the odds. pic.twitter.com/DTX1hapNYv

The video clip is 40 seconds long.
Remarks by President Biden Honoring the 2023 Stanley Cup Champion Las Vegas Golden Knights; the YouTube is 11 minutes and 30 seconds long.
President Biden:
A trip to the finals in your first year — very first year. Five total trips to the playoffs. Four conference finals. Two hundred and sixty-seven total wins in six years, one of the best win records in hockey. (Applause.)
[snip]
And in the Stanley Cup Finals, you beat the Panthers to become the champions.
[snip]
And together you’re building a legacy in a great American sports city. In fact, Kamala hosted the Las Vegas Aces back in September — (applause) — when they had just won a back-to-back WNBA title.
[snip]
Let me close with this. You’re proving Vegas sports is one of the best shows in town. But you’re also proving something else about sports.
[snip]
You’re Vegas born; you’re Vegas strong.
White House.gov. 11/13/2023.
Mark Stone (0:23):
It’s an honor to speak on behalf of not only my teammates but the — the entire organization and the city of Las Vegas. It is, of course, an amazing city. It’s the entertainment capital of the world. I say that with all due respect to Delaware, Mr. President. (Laughter and applause.)
[snip]
First off, it’s an incredible honor to be here at the White House. As kids, we grew up dreaming of winning the Stanley Cup. But even over the last five months — I think it’s five months to the day that we raised the Stanley Cup, I think it’s definitely exceeded all my expectations and everything that has gone along with it.
[snip]
Again, thank you so much. This is a — you know, not — for some of us, once in a lifetime opportunity. Fortunately, some guys have done this more than once. We’re looking forward to trying to get back here next November. (Applause.)

Women’s Health Research Tweet
From Tuesday…
Women make up more than half the population. But for too long, they've been underrepresented when it comes to health research.

The video clip is 56 seconds long.
Remarks by President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden Establishing the First-Ever White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research; the YouTube is 4 minutes and 17 seconds long.
President Biden:
Well, folks, I’m going to be signing a presidential memorandum in just a minute here to establish the first-ever White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research.
[snip]
Because the fact is that it requires all of government — not just NIH, but HHS, the VA, the Defense Department, and every agency in the government having anything to do with health — it requires them to come up with a report to me — for me that lays out what they can do collectively to improve women’s health.
[snip]
It’s an effort made possible by Jill, who’s been a long champion of women’s health, and Jen Klein, Dr. Mazure, Maria Shriver, and others.
White House.gov. 11/13/2023.
First Lady Dr. Jill Biden (0:29):
And, you know, Maria, after you came a couple of months ago and then I spoke to Joe and — I have to say one of the things that I love most about Joe is, you know, you take something to him and he listens. And he did listen to us, and that’s — and it’s resulted in this memorandum.
So, thank you, Joe. I really appreciate this.[snip]
And women deserve better. And now, we’re going to get it. So, thank you.

President Biden:
Mr. President, welcome. Welcome to the White House.
[snip]
Today, we’re talking about taking our relationship to launching the highest possible level of cooperation: a Comprehensive Strate- — Strategic Partnership.
This will mark a new era between our — in the relationships between the United States and — and Indonesia across the board, affecting everything. It includes enhancing security cooperation, particularly maritime security. And it includes expanding our work together to build a secure and resilient supply chain. It includes deepening our collaboration to combat the climate crisis.
[snip]
And we’re also going to continue to work with ASEAN to advance a free, open, secure, and prosperous Indo-Pacific. And I want to thank you — and I mean this sincerely — I want to thank you for your leadership on ASEAN this year. I really do.
As we mark nearly 75 years of cooperation between our nations, I’m of the view our partnership is stronger than it’s ever been *[in history] and is going to continue even to get stronger.*
I’m looking forward to our conversation today and — and to our cooperation with APEC Summit in San Francisco later this week.
