Second Feature: Green Acres: S2 E11 – A Home Isn’t Built In A Day
Bothered by her malfunctioning kitchen and the house generally being in dire need of repair, Lisa demands that Oliver arrange to have the house redone or she’s moving back to New York. Oliver agrees and kicks things off by firing their hired carpenters, the Monroe Brothers. After almost a year, nothing the pair has been tasked to repair has actually been fixed! Next, Oliver seeks to hire a local architect and asks for referrals down at the general store. Mr. Haney, always ready to lend advice and make a profit, informs Oliver that he must give up the idea of renovating all together. He claims that the Douglas’ farmhouse is a historic monument: the birth place of the state’s forgotten founder. Despite Mr. Haney’s protestations, Oliver hires an architect and a construction crew. Of course, nothing goes as smoothly as hoped for, and Oliver and Lisa discover a new appreciation for the old charm of their well-worn home.
