TNB Night Owl: My Top 31 Soundtrack Movie Countdown!

Number 10 on the list is Dirty Dancing (1987). This was one of my mom’s favorites, but instead of putting on the soundtrack, she’d just roll the movie itself. That meant the whole thing played out as a living-room event—singing, dancing, and plenty of dramatic reenactments right along with Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze. Between “Hungry Eyes,” “She’s Like the Wind,” and, of course, “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” it was impossible not to join in. The soundtrack was loaded with both golden oldies and brand-new hits, but for us, it wasn’t just music—it was an all-out performance in front of the TV.

I’ll be linking to each soundtrack’s Wikipedia page if you want to dig deeper, rediscover the track listings, or argue with your own memory of what played during that prom scene.

And don’t worry — this won’t be the last time we visit movie soundtracks. 🎶
