Puddle is still trying to cope while being big mad...

11/05/2026 was a brutal day for Wall Street.

It was, in fact, not the worst day in "History"…

Narrator: Blaming voters for losing is a great plan to win them back. He asked us to pretend he was on the ballot, and we did. That's why his party lost seats all across the country.

Narrator: Loser says what?

New York Times (11/04/2026):

Despite record donations by tech executives to tech-friendly candidates, voters chose a new Democratic leadership raring to investigate the cozy ties between A.I. companies and the administration.

In 40 out of 41 local ballot initiatives across the country — more than half of them in Ohio — citizens voted to limit or prevent data center development. Governors and congressional candidates who ran on anti-tech platforms in Texas, Ohio, Georgia and other states prevailed. And senior Democrats immediately promised to swing a hammer on the industry.

“Expect a tsunami of new rules and oversight,” said Darrell West, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, a think tank.

[snip]

It was a major shift for state and local officials, who for years had offered huge tax breaks and other incentives to woo data center developers to their communities. Now, they are pushing data centers to pay taxes, create their own power plants, pay for their use of electricity and water and contribute to local community resources like education funds.

[snip]

During her campaign, Gina Hinojosa, a Democrat who was elected governor of Texas, promised an “immediate moratorium on data centers” until the state passed stronger protections for residents. James Talarico, the Democratic senator-elect, promised to “rein in” data centers by ending tax breaks for developers, forcing them to pay for their energy and creating A.I. dividends for residents.

Empowering communities to regulate data centers will probably slow spending on A.I. infrastructure, which is at risk of overheating, said Bernard Yaros, the lead U.S. economist at Oxford Economics, at a conference Wednesday. That in turn will put downward pressure on inflation.

“A bit more moderate of a path for A.I.,” Mr. Yaros said, “wouldn’t be so much of a bad thing for the Fed and for the broader economy.”

New York Times. 11/04/2026.

Speaking of the economy...

The BLS has released the October Jobs Report:

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 165,000 in October, and the unemployment rate changed little at 4.1 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Employment increased in professional and business services, in health care, and in transportation and warehousing.

[snip]

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for August was revised up by 53,000, from +133,000 to +186,000, and the change for September was revised up by 31,000, from +29,000 to +60,000. With these revisions, employment in August and September combined is 84,000 higher than previously reported. (Monthly revisions result from additional reports received from businesses and government agencies since the last published estimates and from the recalculation of seasonal factors.)
