I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for reaction videos of kids who are informed that they are being adopted. And, while Christians are celebrating Easter today and Jews are celebrating Passover, adoption comes to mind. Moses was found and adopted by Pharaoh’s daughter and the theme of being adopted into the family of God carries through the New Testament as well.
Today’s Something Good is Shailee’s reaction to being adopted. Her story is told on Love What Matters.
Jessica Frank wanted to adopt but her husband didn’t want to change their comfortable life until he met Shailee. Once he heard her say she just wanted a family to adopt her, “that was it”, according to Jessica. Shailee was being fostered by Jessica’s parents and, after hearing her plea, the Franks got certified to foster, moved Shailee into their home, and sought approval to adopt her.
They decided to keep the date of her adoption a secret and surprise her and their biological son, Skyler. Her shocked and tearful reaction is sweet – she was adopted on November 7, 2017. Jessica says, “We are her forever family and we couldn’t be happier to have her in our lives.”
Adoption, opening one’s heart and home to a child, is Something Good.
