Biden Bits: In The Years Ahead

It’s Thursday…

Current Mood:

How It’s Going…

When Biden Bits was posted for Wednesday, President Biden had tweeted 1 time. He added 6 tweets; 1 retweet, giving him a Wednesday Tweeting Total of 7 tweets and 1 retweet…

The number is accurate it includes January 2021’s Jobs Report. It also doesn’t account for the lost jobs coming back online after lockdowns…

As a reminder the BLS announced in December’s Job Report that was released in January 2022, that they would be making changes to the Household Survey Data; new population controls will be used in the household survey estimation process. These new controls will reflect a “blended base,” which is 2010 Census-based and controlled to elements from the 2020 Census and other sources.

Not the first time he’s said “code red for our nation”, but I did find this from September 13th, 2021. He had given remarks on the Admin’s response to recent wildfires.

President Biden: These fires are blinking “code red” for our nation.  They are gaining frequency and ferocity, and we know what we have to do. And it starts with our firefighters putting their lives on the line in rugged and dangerous conditions.

He offered this tweet saying the above quote from his remarks on September 14th, 2021…

On September 7th, 2021, he said it; which appears to be the first time in response to Hurricane Ida…

President Biden: And so, folks, we got to listen to the scientists and the economists and the national security experts.  They all tell us this is code red; the nation and the world are in peril.  And that’s not hyperbole.  That is a fact.

The YouTube is 1 hour and 51 minutes long. His full remarks including his Q&A with the press can be found here.

Full disclosure I have not read the article, cause reasons prevented me from doing so at this time. I can say that I do trust Daniel Dale to be fair, accurate, and link happy when he presents a fact-check, so I’m pretty comfortable sharing his unread fact-check of President Biden’s first year in Office.

The family is only on day 2 of waiting our ordered at home test kits…

His full statement:

At the core of our democracy is a basic principle: the right to vote, and to have that vote counted. That principle was assaulted one year ago, when a violent mob attempted a coup seeking to overturn the will of the people. And today, in state after state, Republican state legislatures are engaged in an unprecedented effort to suppress the sacred right to vote and subvert the American bedrock of free and fair elections.

In the face of those threats, I am profoundly disappointed that the United States Senate has failed to stand up for our democracy. I am disappointed — but I am not deterred.

My Administration will never stop fighting to ensure that the heart and soul of our democracy — the right to vote — is protected at all costs. We will continue to work with allies to advance necessary legislation to protect the right to vote. And to push for Senate procedural changes that will protect the fundamental right to vote.

As dangerous new Republican laws plainly designed to suppress and subvert voting rights proliferate in states across the country, we will explore every measure and use every tool at our disposal to stand up for democracy. The Vice President will continue to lead this effort, as she has for the past year.

Of course for today, he’s tweeted a lot…

Cause of course he has…

For Thursday January 20th, 2022, President has received his daily brief. This morning he met with members of the Infrastructure Implementation Task Force (I found no YouTube for said meeting). This afternoon President Biden will meet with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. This evening he will speak virtually at a Democratic National Committee grassroots event.

Okay, I lied, it seems like a lot of tweets, but in reality, it appears it’s only 5 tweets and 1 retweet so far for Thursday.

See above…

It’s a review of his first year in Office, photos included.

The video clip or snip whatever, is from the press conference posted above…

President Biden: Well, good afternoon, everyone.  Tomorrow will mark one year since I took office.  It’s been a year of challenges, but it’s also been a year of enormous progress. We went from 2 million people being vaccinated at the moment I was sworn in to 210 million Americans being fully vaccinated today. We created 6 million new jobs — more jobs in one year than at any time before. Unemployment dropped — the unemployment rate dropped to 3.9 percent. Child poverty dropped by nearly 40 percent — the biggest drop ever in American history. New business applications grew by 30 percent — the biggest increase ever. And for the first time in a long time, this country’s working people actually got a raise — actually got a raise.  The people — the bottom 40 percent saw their income go up the most of all those that got a raise. We cut health insurance premiums for millions of American families. And we just made surprise medical bills illegal in this country.  You know those bills you get that you don’t expect — up to $2,000 or $5,000 — from a hospital, beyond what you thought you were going to have to owe because of the consultation you weren’t told was going to cost that much?  No more.  They’re now illegal.

Once again, see above…

The daily press briefing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. D.C., time.

What is likely to be a pool spray of opening remarks to President Biden’s meeting with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology; is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. D.C., time.

This is an Open Thread.
