Ex-Thai Navy SEAL diver dies during rescue operations

A former Thai Navy SEAL diver who joined the rescue operations to aid and retrieve a missing soccer team has died.  Officials from the Thai Navy state that the diver died at 2 AM on Friday morning, running out of oxygen during his attempt to return from the trapped teens to the operational base located inside the cave. (CNN)

According to the Guardian UK, The diver’s name is Sanarn Kunan.  He was 38, and he was placing air tanks in the caves as part of the rescue attempt.

His body has been sent to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport, to be transported to his home town of Roi Et.
