Report Finds EPA Violated Federal Spending Laws

In a report released today from the GAO (U.S Government Accountability Office) they found that the EPA has violated Federal Spending Laws,

Section 710 of the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Act, 2017 (section 710) prohibits an agency from obligating an amount in excess of $5,000 to furnish, redecorate, purchase furniture for, or make improvements for the office of a presidential appointee during the period of appointment without prior notification to the appropriations committees of Congress, Full Report

The Report released today is based on the EPA approving the spending of $43,000.00 for a Soundproof booth that was built last year in a storage cupboard in Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt’s office. This, according to the federal law stated above, is in excess of the allotted amount any agency can spend without notifying the appropriation committee members of Congress.

Congressman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) has also requested more documents from Scott Pruitt in regard to both his first class travel expenses, and the 50 dollar a night condo Mr. Pruitt leased while staying in Washington, D.C.
