Henry McMaster is the current Governor of South Caroline having assumed that role after Governor Nikki Haley stepped down and became The United States Ambassador to the United Nations.
One Tuesday June 12th, South Carolina will hold it’s primary election, McMaster’s challengers are Catherine Templeton and John Warren.

Populist party Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte was sworn in as Italy’s newest Prime Minister on June 1st. In his first address to parliament Conte, laid out the plans for his new government Reuters reported on Tuesday.
On Foreign Policy Conte said, “First of all, we intend to reaffirm our convinced membership of NATO, with the United States of America as a privileged ally. “We will support opening up to Russia … We will push for a review of the sanctions system, starting with those that risk humiliating Russian civil society.”
During the G7 summit Conte supported President Trump’s statement supporting Russia’s re-admittance to the G7.

On Saturday CNN reported that according to recent World Trade Organization data shows that America’s average tariff on imported goods if about 2.4%, Canada’s average is 3.1%, and the EU’s average is 3%.
The article also points out that economists point out that manufacturing only makes up about 10% of U.S. economic output, they say our economy is driven by services, like hospitals, universities, banks, and tech companies.
Some in Congress, according to the CNN article, are pushing back against President Trump’s statements that it’s “bad trade deals,” being responsible for disruptions in our economy, “The constant victim-talk doesn’t help anyone. It doesn’t help trade negotiations. And it doesn’t help U.S. citizens understand the disruption in our economy that is actually coming from more technology and more automation, not from free trade agreements — which have overwhelmingly benefited American families,” Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) said.
Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) is continuing to push legislation that would require a President to get lawmakers approval on trade actions that are done on the grounds of national security.

Bloomberg explains that Prime Minister Trudeau is facing criticism from Canadian farmers over stating on Meet the Press with Chuck Todd, that he is open to allowing more “flexibility,” with importing more U.S. dairy products.

From the press conference Prime Minister Trudeau said in regards to President Trump’s tariffs, that on July 1st, he will impose retaliatory tariffs explaining, “I have made it very clear to the president that it is not something we relish doing, but it is something that we absolutely will do. As Canadians, we are polite, we’re reasonable, but also we will not be pushed around.”
