George H.W. Bush has been hospitalized due to a blood infection, KTRK Houston (ABC) is reporting.
He was admitted to Houston Methodist on Sunday morning.
The official statement from Bush’s office:
“President (H.W.) Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant.”
This comes only days after First Lady Barbara Bush’s funeral.
At the funeral, his love for his wife of 73 years was on full display, from the heartfelt words about her to his choice of apparel, honoring her memory:

It is uncertain when Bush initially contracted the infection, but he seemed to be in relatively good health at the funeral, where national leaders had gathered to pay tribute to the departed First Lady.
