There seems to have been a bit of a mix-up between U. N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and the White House. On CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday, Haley stated that additional sanctions on Russia would be announced on Monday.
However, the White House denied that decision had been made. Administration officials, including President Trump’s new Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow, have suggested that Haley was a bit confused.
According to Axios:
U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is fighting back blame from the White House that she preemptively announced on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday that the Treasury Department would formalize the additional sanctions the next day. White House later reversed that decision.
“With all due respect, I don’t get confused.”— Nikki Haley in a statement to Fox News’ Dana Perino
Update:
Kudlow just told me he has spoken to Haley & apologized to her, saying he was “totally wrong” to call her confused & didn’t have complete info. “The policy was changed & she wasn’t told about it, so she was in a box.”

Why it matters:
Many conservatives view Nikki Haley as one of the best appointments that Trump has made to his administration. If a rift between them exists and grows from this that results in Haley leaving the administration, it will be interesting to see how support for President Trump is affected. That drama aside, Haley has been a very strong voice as Ambassador at the U.N. and it would be very difficult to imagine who would be able to match that.
