Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced in a press conference that the Grand Jury has returned indictments of 12 Russian Military Officers in the hacking of the DNC, with the intention of impacting the 2016 election.
Rosenstein stated that part of the conspiracy involved GRU (Russian Military Intelligence) hacking the website of a state election board and stealing information on half a million voters.
There are counts of money laundering and conspiring to interfere in an election. The indictment can be viewed here.
The Deputy AG also encouraged patience while the investigation takes place, saying that we need to behave as Americans and not with a partisan perspective.
The case is being transferred from the Special Counsel’s office to the National Security Division of the Department of Justice while the defendants are being brought to justice.
This is a developing story and we will update as more information is available.
