Supreme Court Justice Nominee Brett Kavanaugh met with Senator Susan Collins Tuesday. The AP reports that he is on his Tour of Capitol Hill making the rounds ahead of his September confirmation hearings.

After the meeting, Collins told reporters that they specifically discussed Roe v. Wade citing that Chief Justice Roberts said it was “settled as a precedent” during his confirmation hearing, and that Kavanaugh agreed that is was settled law.

“He said that he agreed with what Justice Roberts said at his nomination hearing, in which he said it was settled law. We had a very good, thorough discussion,” Collins said.

The Washington Post

Collins has a history of supporting abortion rights. The AP reaffirmed that she will “oppose any nominee who has “demonstrated hostility” to Roe v. Wade.”

While she has still not said whether or not she will vote to confirm Kavanaugh, she does favor him and has stated that he is qualified for the job.

Republicans in the Senate, hope to Kavanaugh confirmed by October 1st.

  1. Not surprising. The Trump’s need the ability to get abortions for when they have “fun” babies. Do you really think Trump hasn’t paid for his fair share of abortions?

  2. If there is ever to be a decrease in the rate of abortion in this nation, the solutions will be more localized (in the home, in the community, in the individual states) and not in the courts.

  3. I take no delight in watching some of my peers get egg on their face on this one for all the sucking up and willful gaslighting of themselves they did to make this justice seem fashionable, but this proves YET AGAIN why you don’t get figs from thorn bushes. The fact that Kavanaugh is willing to continue the biggest genocide of our time unabated is in and of itself abominable and worthy of scorn.

In much the same way, you don’t get “conservative (what does that even MEAN anymore)” governance from a life-long liberal democrat that hijacked the GOP with his band of ignorants and idiots and likes to style himself as an inflated, egotistical FDR.

  4. Meanwhile, thousands more babies were butchered in their mother’s wombs today.  For convenience and selfishness.  But don’t worry, we have settled law that gives people the right to murder the most innocent among us and that’s what’s important.  Our culture and our civilization (if you can call it that) is sick.

  5. Kavanaugh plans to kill “Roe v. Wade” by a 1,000 cuts. I suspect he would uphold any state restrictions that come to him, such that abortion is no longer available for the poor or lower middle class in Red states.

For those Red State residents with money, abortion “tourism” in places like Illinois, New York, California, etc. will be a “thing”.
