One time Mayor of New York, and now President Trump’s personal counsel, Rudy Giuliani appeared on NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd.
During his interview Giuliani is asked about progress on whether or not President Trump and Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office have reached an interview agreement between President Trump and special counsel Robert Mueller.
In the one minute and fifty-one second clip Rudy explains, “I’m not going to be rushed into having him testify so he get’s trapped into perjury. When you tell me that you know he should testify because he is going to tell the truth and he shouldn’t worry. Well that’s so silly because it’s someones version of the truth not the truth.”
Todd interrupts then and says, “truth is truth…I don’t mean…
Giuliani says, “no it isn’t truth, truth isn’t truth. The President of the United States says, I didn’t…
Todd once again interrupts and says, “truth isn’t truth Mr. Mayor do you realize what you are saying?”
Giuliani tells Todd, “Donald Trump says he didn’t talk to Comey,” referring to former FBI director James Comey, “about Flynn,” President Trump’s former national security adviser Michael Flynn, who Comey was investigating at the time, for ties to Russia. Flynn has since plead guilty to lying to the FBI about his ties to Russia.
The two exchange some cross talk, until Giuliani explains once more, “Trump says I didn’t tell him, the other guy says he did say it. Which is the truth?”
Not to be lost among the truth isn’t truth statement is another statement in which Giuliani tells Todd that the Trump Tower meeting that was attended by Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, and several other key members of President Trump’s campaign staff, was originally intended to get, “information on Clinton,” but that the meeting, turned into a meeting about “another subject.”
As a reminder President Trump also
confessed that the Trump Tower meeting was to obtain dirt on Hillary Clinton via tweet, which was covered at The News Blender at the time.
Todd explains to Giuliani that that is “attempted collusion,” Giuliani disagrees and adds that they didn’t even know “she was Russian,” when they set-up the meeting.
According to the CNN timeline that is based off Congressional investigations into the, “circumstances surrounding the Trump Tower meeting,” the first person to reach out to Donald Trump Jr., to arrange the meeting was British publicist Rob Goldstone, who informed Trump Jr., that Russian pop star, Emin Agalarov, had requested a meeting with the Trump campaign in order to, “provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father.”
During the “truth isn’t the truth,” exchange Todd says, “This is going to become a bad meme.” The full Rudy Giuliani interview is available @ NBC News
