Trump Tweets: The Be A Team Player Edition

To end the first day of the New Year, President Trump tweeted about gas prices, a MAGA list for Trump’s re-election that was published by the Washington Examiner, he tweeted he looks forward to another meeting with North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un. He again mentions low gas prices, and ends the day by blasting Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), for holding up 350 nominations.

To start the second day of the New Year, President Trump has taken to twitter to ask newly elected Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) to be a team player and once again explained that Mexico will pay for the wall through the yet to be ratified by Congress USMCA trade agreement.

1. He should be happy for all Republicans. Be a TEAM player & WIN!…

On Tuesday newly elected Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) penned an op-ed, that appeared in The Washington Post.

Highlights from “The president shapes the public character of the nation. Trump’s character falls short.”

Romney: When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion. His early appointments of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Nikki Haley, Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, Kelly and Mattis were encouraging. But, on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions last month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office.

Romney: To a great degree, a presidency shapes the public character of the nation. A president should unite us and inspire us to follow “our better angels.” A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect. As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable. And it is in this province where the incumbent’s shortfall has been most glaring.

Romney: Furthermore, I will act as I would with any president, in or out of my party: I will support policies that I believe are in the best interest of the country and my state, and oppose those that are not. I do not intend to comment on every tweet or fault. But I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions.

Republican Reaction to Mitt Romney’s Op-ed via Twitter:

Chairman of the Republican Party.

Conservative Writer Ben Shapiro.

Fox News Contributor Brit Hume.

NRO Contributing Columnist Dan McLaughlin.

Mitt Romney will appear on CNN’s The Lead hosted by Jake Tapper @ 4 p.m. eastern time.

Opinion: The House and the Senate are co-equal branches of government, their team should be defending the Constitution and the state that they represent, they do not work for a President, they work for the American people.

2. Mexico is paying for the Wall through the new USMCA Trade Deal. Much of the Wall has already been fully renovated or built….

Opinion: This is not true, it’s a lie, Mexico is not paying for any “wall” through trade, it does not work like that.

For those curious as to my newly found opinions sprinkled through the Trump Tweets articles as of late, I can explain.

Often times Trump repeats the same thing via tweet, it is similar to his speeches, rallies, and interviews, repeat the claim enough, false or otherwise, and people become numb to it, or they actually start believing the statement. As Romney explains in his op-ed, the President’s character matters. I have debunked his tweets since April, opinion is almost all that is left.

Authors note: in Tuesday’s Trump Tweets, I incorrectly stated that the New Congress started on Wednesday. This was an error, the 3rd, is Thursday. I apologize for the error and the post has been corrected.
