This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.
If you want to follow along, the ads can all be downloaded here. The ads I’m using today came from the 2015-q3/2015-07 folder.
A lot of the ads in this section were for a group called “LGBT United” where they tried their best to appeal to the US gay community. Out of all the transgender advocates, they picked who they assumed was number one: Caitlyn Jenner. They were wrong in their assumption, as she is not a favorite among trans advocates. But when has reality ever stopped the Russian troll farm before. P(1)0002594 calls her a “most fabulous trans idon” and “real new American hero”:

They even spent 400 rubles on announcing who Jenner was dating in p(1)0002565:
