President Trump announced via Twitter that Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be leaving the Trump Administration at the end of June, the President encouraged her to run for the Governor of Arkansas.
After 3 1/2 years, our wonderful Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be leaving the White House at the end of the month and going home to the Great State of Arkansas….— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 13, 2019
….She is a very special person with extraordinary talents, who has done an incredible job! I hope she decides to run for Governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic. Sarah, thank you for a job well done!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 13, 2019
NEW: Pres. Trump recognizes outgoing White House press sec. Sarah Sanders during White House event: "We've been through a lot together. And she's tough, but she's good." https://t.co/30XyYoLQIQ pic.twitter.com/xE8VsRusfi— ABC News (@ABC) June 13, 2019
It's been more than three months since Sarah Sanders held a White House press briefing, according to NBC News.— Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) June 13, 2019
According to the White House YouTube Channel the last official press briefing was held on March 11, 2019.
In January the President tweeted that the Press Secretary had been told by him to not go to the podium in the White House press room because the media is “rude.”
The reason Sarah Sanders does not go to the “podium” much anymore is that the press covers her so rudely & inaccurately, in particular certain members of the press. I told her not to bother, the word gets out anyway! Most will never cover us fairly & hence, the term, Fake News!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 22, 2019
Some Twitter thoughts on Sander’s departure.
I'm not going to believe that Sarah Huckabee Sanders is leaving as White House press secretary until she denies it herself.— James Poniewozik (@poniewozik) June 13, 2019

Trump just announced that @PressSec Sarah Huckabee Sanders would be leaving the White House. Asked to comment, Sanders remarked, "That's what the President has said, but I have no way of independently confirming, isn't that your job?"— George Takei (@GeorgeTakei) June 13, 2019
