Day 80 of the Impeachment Inquiry came in the form of the House Judiciary Committee voting to advance the two Articles of Impeachment, one for Abuse of Power, the other for Obstruction of Congress, to the House for a full vote expected sometime next week.
On both Articles the vote to advance was a straight party line vote, 23-17.
For Friday the 13th, the President has tweeted 15 times and retweeted 1 time.
Congratulations to Boris Johnson on his great WIN! Britain and the United States will now be free to strike a massive new Trade Deal after BREXIT. This deal has the potential to be far bigger and more lucrative than any deal that could be made with the E.U. Celebrate Boris!

For an analysis of the Johnson win in the UK, @ the News Blender.
The Republicans House members were fantastic yesterday. It always helps to have a much better case, in fact the Dems have no case at all, but the unity & sheer brilliance of these Republican warriors, all of them, was a beautiful sight to see. Dems had no answers and wanted out!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2019
To see the “fantastic,” aka whining Republican “warriors,” aka whiners, in action, you can do so here and here.
My Approval Rating in the Republican Party is 95%, a Record. Thank you! #2020Election

This is still not true, and I should note, he’s not one time, explained or pointed to a source of this lie. It’s beyond a false claim when it’s made via Twitter 18 times without evidence. For what it’s worth, he has also without evidence claimed to have a 94 percent approval rating among republicans.
Poll numbers have gone through the roof in favor of No Impeachment, especially with Swing States and Independents in Swing States. People have figured out that the Democrats have no case, it is a total Hoax. Even Pelosi admitted yesterday that she began this scam 2 1/2 years ago!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2019
As the News Blender reported on Thursday two polls shared via Fox & Friends, showed a slight majority do not approve Impeachment or Removal of President Trump.
Real Clear Politics has the average polling in favor of Impeachment/Removal at 46.5 percent. The average for no Impeachment/Removal is also at 46.5 percent.
During an Oval Office presser the President pushed the great polls, he also explains that his Impeachment started before he announced he was running for President.
Trump hypes fake polls: "I could show you numbers that, nobody has ever seen numbers like this."
— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) December 13, 2019
He then says impeachment started "probably before I came down the escalator" — in other words, he's accusing Dems of plotting to impeach him before he decided to run for POTUS 😂 pic.twitter.com/PhEz9V0Xar
As for Pres Trump statement on his polls "through the roof," recent polls show otherwise: recent job approval:

-Approve 44, Disapprove / 53 – Economist/You Gov
– 41 / 56 – Reuters Ipsos
– 41 / 55 – Quinnipiac
– 46 / 54 – The Hill/HarrisX
– 39 / 58 – Politico/Morning Consult
But, yeah, the Poll numbers are “through the roof.”

I didn’t realize all of our presidents reached out to foreign countries and said, “I want you to do us a favor though,” and then asked that foreign country to investigate a political rival. If true, then yes, they should have faced Impeachment.
Congratulations to @foxandfriends on being named, BY FAR, the Number One Rated cable news show. CNN and MSNBC have totally tanked, their ratings are terrible. They have zero credibility!

How do you get Impeached when you have done NOTHING wrong (a perfect call), have created the best economy in the history of our Country, rebuilt our Military, fixed the V.A. (Choice!), cut Taxes & Regs, protected your 2nd A, created Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, and soooo much more? Crazy!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2019
Semi-related to the done “NOTHING” wrong.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, that President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani told them upon his return for the Ukraine, you know, that country that President Trump pressured in the “perfect call” to investigate his political rival, that as he was taxiing down the runway that President Trump called him and asked “What did you get?”
Giuliani replied “more than you can imagine.”
We will have to continue to imagine what Giuliani got in the form of dirt on President Trump’s political rival former Vice President Joe Biden, until Giuliani issues a twenty-page report of his findings.
The Wall Street Journal story on the China Deal is completely wrong, especially their statement on Tariffs. Fake News. They should find a better leaker!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2019
On Thursday The Wall Street Journal reported that President Trump agreed to a limited agreement with China that would, “roll back existing tariff rates on Chinese goods and cancel new levies set to take effect Sunday as part of a deal to boost Chinese purchases of U.S. farm goods and obtain other concessions, according to people familiar with the matter.”
NEW: China officials say the 'Phase One' trade agreement talks have made major progress and that the U.S. will remove tariffs on Chinese goods in phases. Stocks rallied

We have agreed to a very large Phase One Deal with China. They have agreed to many structural changes and massive purchases of Agricultural Product, Energy, and Manufactured Goods, plus much more. The 25% Tariffs will remain as is, with 7 1/2% put on much of the remainder….
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2019
…..The Penalty Tariffs set for December 15th will not be charged because of the fact that we made the deal. We will begin negotiations on the Phase Two Deal immediately, rather than waiting until after the 2020 Election. This is an amazing deal for all. Thank you!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 13, 2019
The Office of the United States Trade Representative announced on Friday that the U.S. and China had reached an “historic and enforceable agreement on a Phase One trade deal that requires structural reforms and other changes to China’s economic and trade regime in the areas of intellectual property, technology transfer, agriculture, financial services, and currency and foreign exchange.”
They went on to explain that “The United States has agreed to modify its Section 301 tariff actions in a significant way.”
They conclude their announcement by explaining “The United States will be maintaining 25 percent tariffs on approximately $250 billion of Chinese imports, along with 7.5 percent tariffs on approximately $120 billion of Chinese imports.”
Here's some back of the napkin math on China deal:
— Chris Murphy (@ChrisMurphyCT) December 13, 2019
China agrees to buy $50B of ag products next year, increase of $29B from pre-tariff trade.
Tariffs cost U.S. farmers $11B. Then taxpayers put up $28B in emergency ag payouts.
So…we lost/spent $39B. Gained $29B.
Nice work!
Yes, it's a lot more complicated than that. For instance:
— Chris Murphy (@ChrisMurphyCT) December 13, 2019
– Trump tariffs are broader than ag sector
– Trump isn't ending all tariffs, meaning we keep losing jobs in other sectors
– subsides and lost imports are a little apples/oranges
But it's a bad deal no matter how you score it. Devil will be in the details of the text, but the pain Trump inflicted on American workers and consumers does not appear to come close to the relatively minor concessions he got from China.
