Propaganda Watch: Russian Social Media Ads–9/27/2020

This is part of an ongoing series where I review some of the ads purchased by the Russians. In doing so I hope we can get a better understanding of what they were trying to do, and how to recognize it the next time we’re faced with propaganda.

The Russians profited off us in some abstract ways, but others were more straightforward. Specifically, they made a few bucks off t-shirt sales. P(1)0004819 was selling a Venn diagram-themed shirt for Black Matters:

The Williams and Kalvin group sold Black Matters shirts via their Facebook group on p(1)0006212:

In p(1)0006222 the Williams and Kalvin group told people that buying their shirts would “donate to the events against hate and racism.”:
