A roadrunner snuck onto the storage area of a moving truck and traveled the distance from Las Vegas to Westbrook, Maine. Traveling for four days, it looks like the bird got through it without a scratch, and maybe a few lost pounds.
Avian Haven, an bird rehab that took the roadrunner after being brought in by volunteers, said in a Facebook post that “the bird is doing remarkably well shape for being stuck in a van for four days”. The bird arrived November 13th and is still resting four days later.
The center is looking for ways to return the Southwestern state bird to it’s native home in Nevada once the bird has recovered. Avian Haven created a warmer habitat for the special bird that’s plenty roomy for all the running the bird desires!
