I had forgotten Cheney was schedule to speak at the Reagan Presidential Library in California last night. h/t to Johnt for dropping this in Notes last night and I happened to catch it before signing off.

Haberman isn’t wrong. It does have some brutal moments.

Here is the full video and (CSPAN) link just in case Word Press goes wonky and the embed gets unstuck at drop/post time. Lol.

It is what they call their Foundation Speakers series, and last night’s was called, appropriately, A Time For Choosing. This runs about 36 minutes. It begins with Scott Zakheim giving the welcoming, setting the stage, and introduction. (6:35).

NATO Summit statement reads, in part:

The June 29-30, 2022 NATO Summit in Madrid, Spain will be an historic moment for the Transatlantic Alliance. Building on the President’s first NATO Summit on June 14, 2021, and extraordinary Summits held on February 25, 2022 and March 24, 2022 in response to Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, this Summit in Madrid will convene all 30 Allied leaders and key NATO partners from Europe and Asia. For the first time, it will include NATO’s Asia-Pacific partners at the leaders level. The Summit will provide an opportunity to advance collective efforts with these Allies and partners to strengthen the rules-based international order. President Biden will reaffirm the United States’ unwavering commitment to the Transatlantic bond and NATO’s Article 5 – that an attack on one is an attack on all. Alongside major new contributions from Allies, the President will also announce at the Summit new stationing of U.S. forces and capabilities in Europe to support NATO and to deter any aggression against our Allies.

Side Note: Editorial rant about to commence.

Me, hearing more SCOTUS rulings.

Indiscriminateness thought does not lead to discriminate actions. It may sound all awesome deregulation just happened, and our *conservative* little hearts may pitty pat at the idea this is a win, but this, like some of the other recent rulings, will not end well.

How does a ruling get made when there are no current regulations in effect?

OSHA cannot set the rules on vaccines? Guess what DeSantis does to private businesses? Oh, right, what he is already trying to do right now. I am states right advocate, but I know there are limits. This haphazard, random indiscriminate application of states rights is going to be chaos. The whole of these united States is being dismantled brick by brick and in effect, will create a balkanization, not only of hostile states, but counties within states.

It has already begun.

Take for instance, the Texas GOP has now formally called (Bulwark), with a date of 2023, for the Republican controlled Texas state legislature to officially declare a referendum for Texas to secede from the Union. With a legislature of an R Senate 18-13, and the R House 85-65, that is what Texas looks like right now.
