I am deeply saddened to share that my brother, Dexter Scott King, has passed away. The sudden shock is devastating. It is hard to have the right words at a moment like this. Please keep the entire King family in your prayers, and in particular Dexter's wife, Leah Weber King. pic.twitter.com/m66arGAifN

NPR reported that Dexter Scott King passed away on Monday, after battling prostate cancer. His wife, Leah Weber King, said in a statement that King died “peacefully in his sleep”. He was 62 years old.
Jill and I were saddened to hear of the passing of Charles Osgood, an award-winning journalist whose presence warmed the homes of millions of Americans over his nearly 50-year career.

Our thoughts are with Jean, his wife of 50 years; his five children; and his CBS News family.

The above Washington Post article should be a gift article and not pay-walled. According to the Washington Post, Charles Osgood, passed away on Tuesday, the cause of death according to his daughter Anne-E. Wood, was “complication from dementia”. He was 91 years old.
RIP Charles Osgood.

Consumer Sentiment Tweet
From Wednesday…
My Administration is working to lower costs for working-class families across the board.
— President Biden (@POTUS) January 24, 2024
There's more work to do. But with a 29% surge in consumer sentiment over the last two months, the biggest two-month jump in 30 years, I'm optimistic for what's ahead.
CNBC News (01/19/2024): Consumer sentiment surges while inflation outlook dips, University of Michigan survey shows:
Consumers have grown more confident about the direction of the economy and inflation at the onset of 2024, despite persistent worries about a looming slowdown, a survey released on Friday showed.
The University of Michigan’s Survey of Consumers showed a reading of 78.8 for January, its highest level since July 2021 and up 21.4% from a year ago. That followed a big jump in December and comes despite public opinion surveys showing concern about the nation’s direction.
On a two-month basis, sentiment showed its largest increase since 1991, said Joanne Hsu, the survey’s director.

“New” from the White House…
01/23/2024:
In response to continued illegal and reckless Houthi attacks against vessels transiting the Red Sea and surrounding waterways, the armed forces of the United States and United Kingdom, with support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands, conducted additional strikes against eight targets in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen in accordance with the inherent right of individual and collective self-defense, consistent with the UN Charter. These strikes were designed to disrupt and degrade the capability of the Houthis to continue their attacks on global trade and innocent mariners from around the world, while avoiding escalation.
The thirty-plus attacks that the Houthis have launched on commercial and naval vessels since mid-November constitute a threat to all countries that rely on international maritime shipping. We condemn these attacks, and demand an end to them. We also underscore that those who supply the Houthis with the weapons to conduct these attacks are violating UN Security Council Resolution 2216 and international law. The January 22 international response to the continuing Houthi attacks demonstrated shared resolve to uphold navigational rights and freedoms, and to defend the lives of mariners from illegal and unjustifiable attacks.
