Assange Offers to Meet With Schiff to Prove No Collusion

Randy Credico, New York radio personality and Roger Stone confidant, told MSNBC’s Ari Melber that Wikileaks’ Julian Assange is willing to sit down with Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) to show “there is no collusion”. The reference to “no collusion” is referring to the investigations by special counsel Robert Mueller and Congressional Intelligence Committees into connections between the Trump presidential campaign and Russian officials during the 2016 election.

Wikileaks responded to Credico’s claim with a doubtful statement published on Twitter.

Adam Schiff is the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee and has, along with other Democrats, has been critical of Republican members of the committee for ending their probe before all the facts were gathered. Schiff’s office released a statement, obtained by the Washington Examiner, regarding Credico’s offer.

“Our committee would be willing to interview Julian Assange when he is in U.S. custody, not before,” Schiff’s office said in a statement Friday.

Assange is currently residing in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, after seeking asylum there in 2012. If he leaves the embassy, he is in danger of being arrested for violating his bail conditions during his extradition hearing. He then would likely be extradited to the US and prosecuted for his role in releasing secret documents.

During the presidential election, Wikileaks released hacked emails from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s emails from her private server when she was Secretary of State. Assange denies cooperating with the Russian hackers who obtained the emails but an assessment by US intelligence community concluded with high confidence that Russian intelligence used Wikileaks to strategically leak the emails in an effort to elect Donald Trump.

Randy Credico served as an intermediary between Roger Stone and Julian Assange  in 2016 when Stone was working for the Trump campaign according to recently discovered emails, the Washington Examiner reports.

Former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone tried to obtain information from WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in 2016 in hopes of garnering harmful information on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, according to a report Thursday.

In September, Stone testified to the House Intelligence Committee that he “merely wanted confirmation” from someone that Assange had damaging info on Clinton, the Wall Street Journal reports. The new emails call those claims into question.

“Please ask Assange for any State or HRC e-mail from August 10 to August 30–particularly on August 20, 2011,” Stone wrote in an email to Randy Credico, a New York radio personality who had interviewed Assange, the news outlet reported.

Stone has come under scrutiny by investigators after seeming to predict the release of the stolen emails by Wikileaks in a tweet about Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager. He denies this, saying the prediction came from his own research into the Podestas and not from prior knowledge of what Wikileaks was doing. An email was found in which Stone claims to have dined with his new pal Julian Assange and he told Sam Nunberg that he was going to fly to London and dine with Assange. He also denies this, calling the claim his “shtick“.

Credico has denied interacting with anyone from Wikileaks, telling the Wall Street Journal that he fabricated the responses to Stone’s emails because he was tired of Stone’s bothering him, but now it seems that Credico is close enough to Julian Assange to carry messages between him and a member of Congress.

Why It Matters

Stone’s connection with Wikileaks are of central interest to the Russia investigation. His finances and his associates, like Credico, are being scrutinized by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team. Assange’s and Wikileaks’ roles in the stealing of and releasing of damaging emails from Hillary Clinton’s campaign and what Trump campaign officials knew about it, is at the heart of the probe into whether there was any conspiracy by the Trump campaign to accept help from Russia. What Mueller finds in respect to Wikileaks, Stone, and Donald Trump will likely reveal whether there was cooperation between the Trump campaign and Russia or not.
