A letter from the President to Chairman Kim Jong Un: "It is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting." pic.twitter.com/3dDIp55xu1

The Letter starts out by saying “we greatly appreciate your time, patience, and effort with respect to our recent negotiations and discussions relative to a summit long sought by both parties.” It continues “we were informed that the meeting was requested by North Korea, but that to us is totally irrelevant,” the letter goes on to say, “I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting. Therefore, please let this letter serve to represent that the Singapore summit, for the good of both parties, but to the detriment of the world, will not take place.” President Trump then adds in the closing first paragraph, “You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.”
In the next paragraph, President Trump expresses his desire to “Some day,” meeting Kim Jong Un. He thanks Kim Jong Un, for releasing the three hostages, and calls it a beautiful gesture.
In the last paragraph, President Trump tells Kim Jong Un, if he changes his mind about the summit, to not “hesitate to call or write,” and he closes the letter, by saying “this missed opportunity is a truly sad moment in history.”

Update 2
It’s being reported that the South Korean government was blindsided by this move, a government spokesman, Kim Eui-kyeom said, “We are attempting to make sense of what, precisely, President Trump means.”
South Korea's presidential Blue House seems blind-sided by Trump's cancelation of the summit: "We are attempting to make sense of what, precisely, President Trump means," says spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom.

A lighter look from @annafifield
Thoughts about The Letter:
1) Since when did anyone ever call Kim Jong Un "His Excellency"?
2) totally / tremendous / massive /powerful = Trump dictated this
3) "wonderful dialogue was building" = maybe these two actually spoke on the phone?
4) call me, maybe?— Anna Fifield (@annafifield) May 24, 2018

Update 4
Moments ago President Trump spoke in regards to the cancelled summit
Pres. Trump: "While many things can happen and a great opportunity lies ahead potentially, I believe this is a tremendous setback for North Korea and a setback for the world." https://t.co/75Ts9oczZi pic.twitter.com/OGb2isBHH0

“I’ve decided to terminate the Summit…”
"Hopefully, positive things will be taking place with respect to the future of North Korea," Pres. Trump says. "But if they don't, we are more ready than we have ever been before." https://t.co/75Ts9oczZi pic.twitter.com/JwU7GbLIYf
— CBS News (@CBSNews) May 24, 2018
“I’ve spoken with South Korea and Japan. They are not only ready should foolish o reckless acts be taken by North Korea, but they are willing to shoulder much of the cost of any finical burden, any of the cost associated by the United States in operations should if such an unfortunate situation is forced upon us.”
Pres. Trump: "I hope that Kim Jong Un will ultimately do what is right, not only for himself, but perhaps most importantly, what's right for his people, who are suffering greatly and needlessly." https://t.co/75Ts9oczZi pic.twitter.com/9Xqhl0kN5s

“Including the fact that, perhaps, it is possible that the existing summit could take place or a summit at some later date”
This is a developing story and will be updated.
