The Oath of Office: American History

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Since July 2018, Trump Twitter Archive has seven tweets that refer to the Free Press as the “enemy of the people.”

The Washington Post — Coca-Cola CO CEO James Quincey said in a call to investors that the tariffs were “disruptive,” this after the company announced it plans to raise prices, “citing the cost of raw materials and packaging.”
Since taking office President Trump has added about $1.6 trillion to the debt, according to the linked article, based on the tariffs right now, they “would raise about $21 billion of the debt, a minuscule percentage (0.1 percent) of the debt.”

The News Blender — Soybean farmers are expected to receive the first check from the Trump Administration’s $12 billion farmer bailout sometime after Labor Day.

The New York Times — Two American steel manufactures who share ties with Trump administration officials have according to The Times, “successfully objected to hundreds of requests by American companies that buy foreign steel to exempt themselves from President Trump’s stiff metal tariffs.” The companies, Nucor located in Charlotte, the other United States Steel, located in Pittsburgh, have objection to roughly “1,600 exemption requests filed with Commerce Department.”

The Washington Post — reported on Saturday that President Trump has confided in both friends and advisers that he is worried the Mueller probe might destroy lives, his main concern is the scrutiny under which Don Jr, the President’s son finds himself in over the Trump Tower meeting that happened the summer of 2016 during the election cycle. Citing an adviser to the President who is familiar with his thinking the Post writes, “he does not believe his son purposefully broke the law, but is fearful nonetheless that Trump Jr. inadvertently may have wandered into legal jeopardy.”
The article also points out that President Trump is on a “working vacation,” for eleven days at his New Jersey Golf estate.

The News Blender — Seventeen wildfires are still burning across CA, nine people have died, other injured. Firefighters from Australia and New Zealand are expected to arrive to assist some 14,000 firefighters currently fighting the blazes.

Monday

At this time it is unclear what IG report President Trump is “looking forward to.”
As far as the taped Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) Russian Collusion statement, it appears that in February of 2018 Schiff fell for a prank caller that told the Rep “he” had evidence of President Trump’s crimes involving Russia.

The News Blender — Secretary of State Kris Kobach of Kansas was once appointed by Trump to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity that met twice in 2017, only to be disbanded in January of 2018, without issuing a single official report on how much election fraud was found. Specifically the group was created to study the claims that 3-5 million people voted illegal in the 2016 presidential election. According to Matthew Dunlap (D-Maine) who was on the Commission, they found no substantial illegal voter fraud, based on his reviewing of some eight thousand documents he obtained after he sued the Commission in November 2017 only to received those documents in July.

Kobach is running against Republican incumbent Governor Jeff Colyer, the primary is Tuesday.

The News Blender — The death toll stands at nine people.
The Hill — California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s spokesperson Lynette Round, said in a statement on Monday that she is not aware of water shortage for firefighting.
