Pittsburgh Public Safety @ 10:34 a.m. eastern reported via Twitter, an active shooter situation.
KDKA CBS Pittsburgh is reporting that 8 people are confirmed dead, “and a number of others injured after a shooting situation at The Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill on Saturday.”
Pittsburgh Action News is reporting that 3 officers have also been shot. The link has a live news feed.
KDKA’s Meghan Schiller reported that a suspect, a “white male,” has been taken into custody.
During the short update by authorities it was confirmed “multiple casualties,” and “three officers were shot.” The officer that spoke with the media did not confirm the number of casualties.
President Trump via Twitter said he was aware of the situation and advises people to heed the warnings from local law enforcement to avoid the area.
