Trump Tweets: BUILD THE WALL & CRIME WILL FALL!

It’s Thursday.

The government remains partially shutdown for the 33rd day, or 34th, depending on how the hours are counted, marking it as still the longest shutdown in history.

The Senate is expected to vote on two dueling bills to reopen the government sometime Thursday, both bills as The Washington Post reported are expected to fail. The article notes some Senators believe that the failure of the Republicans and President Trump backed bill and the Democrat backed bill is a good thing not a bad one, for example Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD) said in an interview, “I think this is basically a public statement of what all of us know to already be the case,” that both measures will fail, he added, “but it provides an avenue,” to open negations.

The Senate Session according to C-SPAN started at 11 a.m. eastern.

As the News Blender reported here, here, and here, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and President sent dueling letters about President Trump’s intent to deliver the State of the Union on January 29th. As of Wednesday night via Twitter President Trump has postponed the State of the Union until the government is reopen.

Prior to the postponement of the State of the Union President Trump via Twitter unveiled a new slogan in all caps, “BUILD THE WALL & CRIME WILL FALL!” (I see he is doubling down on Utopia!) He used the new slogan on Wednesday three times on Twitter. In the last tweet prior to his announcement that he would hold off on addressing Congress on Tuesday evening, he tweeted out a link from the White House, that led to “The Historic Results of President Donald J. Trump’s First Two Years in Office.”

Thursday President Trump has tweeted so far 8 times.

1. A great new book just out, “Game of Thorns,” by Doug Wead…

2. “This is everything FDR dreamed about”…

According to goodreads Doug Wead’s book, the full title, “Game of Thorns: The Inside Story of Hillary Clinton’s Failed Campaign and Donald Trump’s Winning Strategy,” was released on February 28th, 2017.

3. Media barely covers!

4. So interesting that bad lawyer Michael Cohen…is using the lawyer of Crooked Hillary Clinton to represent him…

CNN reported on Wednesday that Michael Cohen, President Trump’s onetime lawyer and “fixer” who was scheduled to testify before the House Oversight Committee, has postponed the testimony via a statement from his lawyer Lanny Davis, “Due to ongoing threats against his family from President Trump and Mr. Giuliani, as recently as this weekend, as well as Mr. Cohen’s continued cooperation with ongoing investigations, by advice of counsel, Mr. Cohen’s appearance will be postponed to a later date. Mr. Cohen wishes to thank Chairman Cummings for allowing him to appear before the House Oversight Committee and looks forward to testifying at the appropriate time.”

In the article, CNN reports that the newly appointed Democrat Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Elisha Cummings (MD) might subpoena Cohen to appear before the Committees.

For What It’s Worth: Lanny Davis represented former President Bill Clinton. President Trump has hired former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment lawyer Emmett Flood to be his personal attorney dealing with the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.

5. Wrong! After 40 years of doing nothing…

13 minutes later…

6. This is more than has ever been accomplished with North Korea, and the Fake News knows it.

As the News Blender reported on Tuesday, the Defense Department published a missile defense review for 2019 in which they note while their appears to be a path to peace with North Korea, the country continues to pose an “extraordinary threat,” to the U.S., adding that, “the United States must remain vigilant.”

There has been reports from the White House that another summit between North Korean’s leader Kim Jong un, and U.S. President Donald Trump is expected sometime in February. No date, place, or time has been announced.

7. BUILD THE WALL AND CRIME WILL FALL!

8. We will not Cave!

As a reminder the government currently is shutdown with 800,000 employees, some of whom are working without pay, while some are home not working without pay.

Opinion: I support limited government, I do, however, currently, those people who are working without pay or not working, are the very people charged with keeping our borders protected and with protecting the country, by land, by air, and by sea, those people have high risk, highly stressful jobs, adding to that stress is currently the instability of this shutdown. Which means we are less safe as a result.

For example: The FBI Agents Association published a report called “Voices from the Field,” that focuses on anonymous agents explaining the consequences of the government shutdown. In the report it quotes these agents again charged with keeping of us safe.

One undercover employee who works on cases involving children and sex trafficking told the Association, “On the child exploitation side, I have had to put pervs on standby.… This just puts children in jeopardy.”

On drugs and gangs, one agent is quoted as saying, “I have been working a long term MS-13 investigation for over three years. We have indicted 23, MS-13 gang members for racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering, extortion, money laundering and weapons offenses.… Since the shutdown, I have not had a Spanish speaker in the Division. We have several Spanish speaking informants. We are only able to communicate using a three way call with a linguist in another division.”

For What it’s Worth: Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross made reference to the government shutdown employees, that will be covered in a separate article, but in part he explained he did not understand why Federal Employees were going to food banks or homeless shelter for food, even though they are currently working without pay and in fact missing their second paycheck as of tomorrow. The quote that President Trump used by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was her response to Ross’s comments, not about the wall.

CBS News explains her full quote, “I don’t quite understand why as hundreds of thousands of men and women are about to miss a second paycheck tomorrow.”

Bonus Tweets:

Shortly after President Trump unveiled his new slogan Twitter users alike responded.

Responding to a newly released poll by CBS News, White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway questioned how come the polling question(s) mentioned the word wall when the President has said you can, “call it whatever you want.”

For those that do not want to watch the clip here is a tweet that has the exchange between Conway and CNN reporter Abby Phillip.

For What’s it Worth: The exchange came after President Trump tweeted build the wall and crime will fall…
