What Fresh Hell is This? Tuesday’s Open Thread

Pardon Our Mess. Photo by Marty Mankins.

It’s Tuesday.

I’d like to explain my thoughts before we move on to What Fresh Hell is This?, Day 68.

Originally, as everyone is aware, the goal was to end this thread, next week, Twitter rushed my plan, but to be clear, “What Fresh Hell is This?”, signals not only President’s Banned Tweets, but the ending of his time in office, which is how come, I’m keeping the title and the day count. Which I started from November 4th, 2020. The day after the Presidential Election.

With that out of the way, we can move on to winging-it, What Fresh Hell is This? Day 68.

We start our journey with Democrat Rep. from PA, telling CNN’s New Day, that on Monday night, in a briefing regarding threats surrounding the Capitol in light of Wednesday’s events, that the threats they are facing are “very specific”. He adds, “they were talking about 4,000 armed ‘patriots’ to surround the Capitol and prevent any Democrat from going in and they have published rules of engagement meaning when you shoot and when he don’t.”

Lamb explains that he believes “they are committed to what they’re doing because I think in their minds, you know, they are patriots and they’re talking about 1776”.

President No Responsibility is planning to head to the U.S. Border in Texas, to praise himself for being the bestest ever he’s expected to make a speech. This speech will not be covered by me, and from what I understand the Blender as a whole. However, for the first time in ages, the Asshole graced the media with his presence.

In this clip he says that Impeachment is causing both a tremendous danger and anger “to our country”. He does start the clip with “we want no violence, never violence, we want absolutely no violence”, before he pivots to call the new article of Impeachment just a “continuation of the greatest witch hunt in the history of politics”.

In this clip he says that his speech in which he encouraged his supporters to storm the Capitol on Wednesday January 6th, that many people are saying what he said was “appropriate,” he then pivots to whataboutism by saying what about the summer riots and what politicians said then which was “a real problem, what they said”. He turns back to his speech saying that all those that analyzed his speech said it was “totally appropriate”.

Rev.com has a transcript of the “totally appropriate speech”, and using the find feature, he says the word “fight” twenty-times.

The word fight itself sticks out only a few times beyond the Rudy fights, Jim Jordan, is a fighter, or the R’s fight like a boxer.

We want to be so respectful of everybody, including bad people. We’re going to have to fight much harder and Mike Pence is going to have to come through for us. If he doesn’t, that will be a sad day for our country because you’re sworn to uphold our constitution. Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy. After this, we’re going to walk down and I’ll be there with you. We’re going to walk down. We’re going to walk down any one you want, but I think right here. We’re going walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women. We’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them because you’ll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong.

Our brightest days are before us, our greatest achievements still wait. I think one of our great achievements will be election security because nobody until I came along, had any idea how corrupt our elections were. And again, most people would stand there at 9:00 in the evening and say, “I want to thank you very much,” and they go off to some other life, but I said, “Something’s wrong here. Something’s really wrong. Can’t have happened.” And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don’t fight like Hell, you’re not going to have a country anymore.

Rev.com. 01/06/2021.

In my opinion, focusing just on this one speech, the day of the Capitol attack, is not exactly right. He spent the last 68 days, or if you want to be really technical 64 days, saying that the election he lost was stolen, that it was rigged, that Democrats cheated, and that we wouldn’t have a country if Biden was allowed to be sworn-in on January 20th, 2021. He did not just on Wednesday decided to fire-up his supporters, he’s spent 64 days, over his election loss ginning up his supporters, the end result was what we saw on Wednesday, not the start, and is probably if I’m honest, not the last time we see violence directly and even indirectly related to the 2020 Presidential Election lies.

For example on January 7th, 2021.

As many know, Twitter, and other social media platforms have cut-off the Liar in Chief, for breaking their terms of service, in which he promoted violence and/or lies about the 2020 Presidential Election.

This caused much pearl clutching among “conservatives,” screaming about how Twitter violated his First Amendment right to “free speech”.

On Tuesday morning NPR reported that Voice of America White House reporter has been reassigned following her daring to question Mike “Pompous Ass,” Pompeo.

Voice of America White House reporter Patsy Widakuswara was reassigned Monday evening just hours after pressing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on whether he regretted saying there would be a second Trump administration after President-elect Joe Biden’s victory was apparent.

[Pompous Ass had stopped by the U.S. government-owned international broadcaster’s headquarters to offer a speech, he did not, according to NPR address the attempted coup on Wednesday…surprise…real shocker].

As Pompeo walked out of the VOA building, giving a thumbs up to a man with whom he exchanged remarks in the crowded foyer, Widakuswara lobbed several questions. She asked what he was doing to repair the reputation of the U.S. around the world. She finally asked: “Mr. Secretary, do you regret saying there will be a second Trump administration?” Pompeo did not acknowledge the questions.

NPR. 01/12/2021.

They go on to say that she asked VOA director Robert Reilly, how come he “did not ask any of the questions that we wanted to know about.” He explained that she “obviously” didn’t know how to behave and that she wasn’t “authorized” to ask questions, to which Widakuswara said, “I know, but I am a journalist, and I am paid to ask questions”.

She posted a clip of her asked questions, to which Pompous Ass, didn’t respond.

Reilly’s deputy Elizabeth Robbins, who had previously worked for the State Department under Pompous Ass, “made the request later Monday for Widakuswara to be reassigned away from covering the White House. Through a spokeswoman, Voice of America said it did not comment on personnel matters. A group of anonymous whistleblowers filed a formal complaint last week over Pompeo’s visit, saying it was propaganda and that Reilly’s intention to broadcast the address over VOA’s airwaves was a violation of the newsroom’s protections for editorial independence.”

The White House Correspondents’ Association issued a statement.

Oddly enough, I do not find the same whining and fainting couch needed for “conservatives,” mentioning this reporter being demoted for doing her job as a journalists, which is to ask officials questions, they are not obligated to answer them, which Pompous Ass did not, but she has a right to ask them all the same.

We are ever so close to this day…

This evening the House will debate a resolution calling on VP Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment following the attack on the Capitol. The debate and vote will follow the currently happening House Rules Committee.
