As I mentioned during story time in the preview of my Disney vacation photos Owl; Small World was closed but did manage their special holiday lighting ceremony.
My husband who seems addicted to making videos and not just taking photos posted that lighting ceremony to TikTok!

Story time…
So, on the return of our trip back in October, I semi-explained the Star Wars land ride Rise of the Resistance. This trip we did not achieve a boarding group in the early morning hours on Friday.
We did manage to see the land and rode; Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run…

Anyhoo, back to my story.
Well, at noon my husband tried again for the virtual boarding group and we got a slot to ride Rise…
It was scheduled for around 5 or 6 o’clock Friday evening. We were in Small World waiting for the Christmas parade…
Our boarding group was called we made the executive decision to forgo the Christmas parade because we could see it on Saturday before we left…
Small World is over by the pretty Peter Pan like compass and Galaxy’s edge is at the direct opposite. In short, it’s a hike, it’s not “close”, it’s a hike away from where we were sitting down awaiting the parade.
We manage the hike with barely a cuss word uttered, by me, only to find out the ride is “temporarily closed”. Come back later, the cast member said. I said; this is bullshit, but not to the cast member, obviously, the cast member didn’t break the ride…
Now, it’s close to 8 p.m. CA., time, when we go back…
Fireworks were scheduled for 9 p.m. CA., time. We thought, we should just make it in time, the ride total is about 30 minutes or so, could be 20 from queue to ride finish. I didn’t time it the first time we rode it.
Anyhoo, my husband managed to capture our “capture” by the bad Star Wars dudes…

Shortly after this scene, the ominous sounds of stopping occurred…
And I mean a full stop which was eerie in and of itself…
We were being evacuated as the fireworks were exploding over head…
So, we hiked, missed the night time showing of the Christmas parade, it was closed. We tried again, thinking we’d have enough time to at the very least, watch the fireworks from New Orleans Square (which isn’t that much of a hike from Galaxy’s Edge; down in the left hand corner-ish of the map screen grab).
But instead, we got to hear the fireworks, that sounded like bombs over head, missed the parade, the fireworks, and didn’t ride Rise…
Now, in fairness this kind of shit happens all the time, rides go down. But for some reason Rise has been buggy as crap lately, the Sunday before we were taken off-ride, a live streaming team was also taken off-ride, because the fancy beautiful spaceship broke.
