The White House posted the following by the numbers: Millions of Americans’ Student Loan Costs Will Rise Dramatically Under Republican Officials’ Plans

Last month, President Biden launched his Administration’s student debt relief application, enabling tens of millions of Americans to apply for relief in under 5 minutes as they recover from the pandemic. Already, close to 26 million people have provided the Department of Education the required information to be considered for debt relief – that’s close to 26 million Americans who could be on their way to getting a little more breathing room as they prepare to resume loan payments in January. By the end of the week, 16 million applications will have been approved.

The Biden Administration’s student debt relief plan will benefit working and middle-class families the most. Borrowers are eligible if their individual income is less than $125,000 per year, no borrower in the top 5% of incomes will benefit, and nearly 90% of relief for out-of-school borrowers will go to those who earn less than $75,000 per year. Borrowers with remaining undergraduate loan balances will also see their monthly payments cut in half under the Administration’s plan – providing long-term cost-savings to millions of families.

Republican officials across the country, however, have a different plan. Rather than easing the burden of loan debt for tens of millions of Americans, Republican officials have sued to prevent those hardest hit from the pandemic from getting relief. At the same time, Republicans in Congress are calling for a $3 trillion giveaway for Big Pharma, corporations, and the ultra-wealthy.

If Republican officials get their way, tens of millions of Americans’ monthly costs will rise dramatically when student loan payments resume next year. Working and middle-class Americans who could have up to $10,000 or $20,000 of their student debt relieved under the Biden Administration’s plan will remain under the burden of loan debt – preventing them from pursuing the dream of homeownership, saving up for retirement, or starting small businesses.

If Republican officials get their way:

White House.gov. 11/03/2022.
  • Close to 26 million Americans who have already provided their information to the Department of Education will lose out on up to $10,000 or $20,000 in debt relief.
  • The 16 million people whose applications will have been approved by the Department of Education by the end of this week won’t get relief.
  • The more than 40 million borrowers in total who are currently eligible for debt relief under the Administration’s plan – more than 60% of whom are Pell Grant recipients eligible for up to $20,000 in relief – will be denied the opportunity to receive relief.
  • Nearly 20 million borrowers who are eligible to have their debts zeroed out as a result of the Biden Administration’s student debt relief plan won’t get any debt cancelled.
  • The over 70% of Black undergraduate borrowers who are Pell Grant recipients won’t be able to get up to $20,000 in student debt relieved.
  • Almost half of Latino borrowers would see their entire student debt balance cancelled under the Biden Administration’s plan. But if Republican officials get their way, these borrowers will remain under the burden of student loan debt.
  • Borrowers who didn’t graduate but who earned a certificate – such as welders and dental assistants – who, under the Biden Administration’s plan, are eligible for nearly 40% of relief dollars â€“ would be blocked from getting any of their debt relieved.

President Biden has tweeted…

He’s already tweeted 3 times for Thursday…

“Last month, I launched…” =’s October 17th 2022.

President Biden’s remarks are scheduled for 3:45 p.m. D.C, time.

When the post was posted for Wednesday, President Biden had tweeted 1 time. He added 10 tweets giving him a Wednesday Tweeting Total of 11 tweets and 0 retweets.

He has said similar in a bunch of recent remarks, but the most similar is from the “Congressional Republicans’ Five-Part Plan to Increase Inflation and Costs for American Families” release that was posted by the White House on October 27th.

Congressional Republicans have laid out their mega MAGA trickle-down economic plan clearly. Their economic plan will raise costs and make inflation worse. Their five part plan includes:

          1. $3 trillion in tax cuts skewed to the wealthy – which would add to the deficit and make inflation worse

“GOP wants to push to extend Trump tax cuts… Republican lawmakers gear up to push 2017 tax law after midterm elections, despite potential impact on inflation.” Washington Post 10/17/22

Congressional Republicans are calling for extending expiring provisions of the Trump tax cuts and repealing Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) provisions that require large, profitable corporations to pay taxes and stop wealthy people and corporations from cheating on their taxes. These tax policies would add about $3 trillion to deficits over 10 years, Congressional Budget Office and Joint Committee on Taxation estimates show.  By adding to near-term deficits, the tax cuts would increase inflation and work against efforts to bring inflation down in 2023.

And, these tax cuts would disproportionately benefit the wealthy. Under the Congressional Republican plan, the top 0.1 percent of Americans (with incomes over $4 million per year) would get tax cuts averaging over $110,000 per year, Tax Policy Centerestimates show. That’s an annual tax cut that exceeds the typical American household’s total annual income.

The YouTube is 19 minutes and 15 seconds long. President Biden begins his remarks at the 4 minute and 31 second mark. His full remarks can be found here.

President Biden: Back in June, we launched the nationwide Talent Pipeline Challenge.  And I’ll tell you, it’s designed to ensure that workers across the country, especially those historically underrepresented in infrastructure jobs, could take advantage of the job growth in three sectors that are booming because of what we’re going to do because of the infrastructure law: high-speed Internet, construction, electrification of all those new electric vehicles and batteries, improvements to the electric grid.  The infrastructure law is going to provide $800 billion [million] in workforce development.

President Biden: Today, I’m proud to announce that more than 350 organizations across the country, nearly 50 states and territories, have responded to my call and committed to the Challenge.

The first part of the tweet is not similar enough to count toward remark quote to tweet text.

President Biden: The economy that creates good-paying jobs — union jobs, high-quality jobs — that don’t require college degrees.  The economy that works for everybody through bold actions like this one, and we’re taking that vision to a reality.  This is what it looks like when America comes together to get something done.

American Rescue Plan.
Bipartisan Infrastructure Act.
Inflation Reduction Act.
CHIPS and Science Act.

The above two tweets are similar to remarks he gave on November 1st from Florida. The YouTube is 43 minutes and 6 seconds long. His full remarks can be found here.

President Biden: Now listen to what they’re telling us.  Republicans in Congress are telling us that their number-one priority if they gain control of the congress next Tuesday, is to repeal — number one, the Speaker said — the Leader — Republican Leader said their number-one priority is to repeal the Inflation Reduction Act. That also includes all the — all the amount it’s going to save — hundreds of thousands of dollars for people in terms of their energy bills — because they’re going to do away with the whole issue with regard to weatherization. But let’s be crystal clear what it means: If Republicans in the Congress have their way, the power we just gave Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices goes away — gone. The $2,000 cap on prescription drugs — gone. The $35-a-month cap on Medicare — for insulin for Medicare — gone. The savings on healthcare premiums of $800 a year for millions of Americans in the Affordable Care Act — gone.

President Biden: Some of you are So- — on Social Security or your parents or grandparents are.  They earned it.  They earned every single paycheck they put money in since they were teenagers to pay for Social Security. And those are more than government programs.  They’re a promise — a promise we made as a country to work hard and contribute, and when it comes time to retire, we’re going to be there for you.  We’re going to be there for the basic needs.

From his Wednesday remarks:

President Biden: Look, for most of the 20th century, America led the world because we invested in ourselves.  But somewhere along the way — not a joke — somewhere along the way, we stopped investing in ourselves.  Jobs were going overseas.  Now we’re sending products overseas — (laughs) — not jobs.  (Applause.) Because our adversaries have been closing the gap.  But with this Talent Pipeline Challenge, these partnerships, we’re regaining the momentum and taking back our competitive edge.  And the United States is going to win

The above is from remarks he gave on Halloween day. The YouTube is 5 minutes and 32 seconds long. His full remarks can be found here.

President Biden: If they’re investing their profits in the historic — at historic rates in their U.S. operations, then America would be producing more oil today and prices would be down even further. But rather than increasing their investments in America or giving American consumers a break, their excess profits are going back to their shareholders and to buying back their stock, so the executive pay is — are going to skyrocket.

Get your shoot today!

He has added 3 tweets to his already 3 tweets giving him Thursday Tweeting Total of 6 tweets and 0 retweets; so far the day is young…

The White House has not posted a readout of the call, yet.

The above comes from remarks he gave on October 27th when he announced his admin’s plan to take on hidden “junk fees.” The YouTube 15 minutes and 49 seconds long. His full remarks can be found here.

President Biden: Last week, the Federal Trade Commission started work on a rule to crack down on unfair and deceptive fees across all industries, fees that were never disclosed — never disclosed.  And there was no way to avoid the fee, like processing fees for concert tickets or like resort fees.  When you think you’re paying one price to book a hotel, you only find out after checking out that there’s a “resort fee” you never heard about that’s added to your bill.
