Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is holding a press conference at 5 p.m. eastern to make an announcement.
The Washington Post is reporting that Pelosi is expected to announce a formal impeachment inquiry into President Trump.
According to the article, in recent days, Pelosi has spoken with key allies about establishing a special panel rather than leaving the task with the House Judiciary Committee, but the sources that spoke on the condition of anonymity caution that nothing had been decided.
The New York Times is also reporting that the announcement will focus on the House opening a formal impeachment inquiry, according to Democrats close to the Speaker.
Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden, spoke to the press as the News Blender reported Tuesday afternoon.
.@JoeBiden on impeachment: "If the Pres. continues to obstruct Congress and flaunt the law… Congress will have no choice but to initiate impeachment. That would be a tragedy, but a tragedy of his own making." – Watch full statement: https://t.co/Pp8bJbmtFV pic.twitter.com/Fj4LgelRAQ
