At 10:37 p.m. the White House announced that the President would be making a major statement Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. eastern time.

At 11:08 p.m. Newsweek reported that President Trump had approved a Special Ops mission to target ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. According to Newsweek a U.S. Army official briefed on the operation told them that Baghadadi is presumed dead.
The senior Pentagon official said there was a brief firefight when U.S. forces entered the compound and that Baghdadi then killed himself by detonating a suicide vest. Family members were present. According to Pentagon sources, no children were harmed in the raid but two Baghdadi wives were killed after detonating their own explosive vests.
Members of the Joint Special Operations Command’s Delta Team carried out Saturday’s high-level operation after receiving actionable intelligence, according to sources familiar with the operation. The location raided by special operations troops had been under surveillance for some time.

CNN reported late Saturday, that according to a senior US defense official and a source with knowledge confirmed that Baghdadi was dead following the Special Ops mission.
They went on to say that according to an administration official President Trump’s statement is foreign policy related.
ABC News reported that according to three officials they spoke to the ISIS leader who was last seen alive on tape in April is believed dead.
All three outlets are reporting US officials are awaiting final confirmation of his death through fingerprinting and other biometric methods.
The White House declined to comment on the stories, instead they pointed to President Trump’s early morning Sunday address.
