On Saturday the Senate Impeachment Trial continues with President Trump’s legal team set to begin their case against his removal from Office, following the Articles of Impeachment approved in the House in December.
The Washington Post reports that their opening statements to be presented in an “abbreviated,” sessions of the Senate Trial.
They go on to say that President Trump’s lawyers are “expected to argue that the president was justified in seeking the investigation because of a history of corruption involving the company and that he committed no crimes.”
On Friday the House Impeachment Managers wrapped up their three-day presentations as to why the President did Abuse his Power, Article I of the Articles of Impeachment, and Article II Obstruction of Congress, and should be removed from Office as a result of his actions.

House Judiciary Chairman and lead House Manager, Adam Schiff (D-CA), apparently ruffled the GOP Senators feathers referring to a reported threat made against them by President Trump’s team.

GOP OK Sen Lankford on Schiff's 'head on a pike' comment: I was visibly upset with it. The whole room was visibly upset on our side..that's insulting and demeaning to everyone to say that we somehow live in fear and that the President has threatened all of us

Braun says Schiff’s closing was “very melodramatic” and there were audible gasps among his colleagues when he mentioned the “head on a pike” report

"So what do all these defenses mean? What they mean is: 'Under Article II, the President can do whatever he wants.' … They want us to believe the President can do whatever he wants under Article II, and there is nothing you or the House can do about it." – @RepAdamSchiff pic.twitter.com/edrRyn5Ggt

This trial isn’t politically expedient; it’s hard and it’s uncomfortable, but that’s public service.

Those who have given so much for our country deserve nothing less from us than to try to honor their sacrifices.
I have tried to do that this week. Now, it’s your turn. pic.twitter.com/PlXdWVWorB

On Friday ABC News reported the existence of audio that appears to show President Trump in 2018 telling indicted former Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas to “take her out,” referring to former U.S. Ambassador to the Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.
The President in his infamous July 25th call to the newly elected Ukrainian President Zelensky, mentions Yonvanovitch by name, saying, “she’s going to go through some things.”
The President responded to Saturday’s hearing via Twitter.
