On Saturday the Senate Impeachment Trial continues with President Trump’s legal team set to begin their case against his removal from Office, following the Articles of Impeachment approved in the House in December.

The Washington Post reports that their opening statements to be presented in an “abbreviated,” sessions of the Senate Trial.

They go on to say that President Trump’s lawyers are “expected to argue that the president was justified in seeking the investigation because of a history of corruption involving the company and that he committed no crimes.”

On Friday the House Impeachment Managers wrapped up their three-day presentations as to why the President did Abuse his Power, Article I of the Articles of Impeachment, and Article II Obstruction of Congress, and should be removed from Office as a result of his actions.

Highlights from Friday.

House Judiciary Chairman and lead House Manager, Adam Schiff (D-CA), apparently ruffled the GOP Senators feathers referring to a reported threat made against them by President Trump’s team.

On Friday ABC News reported the existence of audio that appears to show President Trump in 2018 telling indicted former Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas to “take her out,” referring to former U.S. Ambassador to the Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.

The President in his infamous July 25th call to the newly elected Ukrainian President Zelensky, mentions Yonvanovitch by name, saying, “she’s going to go through some things.”

The President responded to Saturday’s hearing via Twitter.
