8:45 a.m. the FBI confirmed via Twitter that “an 11th package has been recovered,” this time the target was Democrat Senator Cory Booker (NJ). According to their tweet, the package was found in Florida.
At the same time the FBI confirmed the 11th package, the NYPD issued a tweet that they were “responding to a report of a suspicious package,” in the area of “West 52nd Street,” in Manhattan. A few hours later they confirmed also via tweet that the suspicious package was safely removed.
The Washington Post reported on Friday, that a law enforcement official said, “that package was a device addressed,” to former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, in care of CNN and found “at a mail sorting facility in New York.”
During a press conference on Thursday NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill, declined to answer if the packages that have been recovered thus far were actually intended to detonate or simply intended to scare people, but he did stress that officials were treating the devices as live, and urged the public not to touch packages they might deem suspicious, “We are treating them as live devices. This is something that should be taken seriously.”
Official Press Conference from Thursday.
As was reported at the News Blender, here, here, and here, so far none of the recovered devices have detonated and each have been addressed to Democrat political figures, or sitting Congressmen and Senators.
